First, thanks to all here for sharing your vast knowledge and all the deep resources about everything thyroid. I had a follow-up with my doctor yesterday and he did increase my dosage of levothyroxine to 100 mcg (I had been on 50 mcg). Thanks to suggestions here, I had what I needed to present my case

Cholesterol problems - high protein, good fat diet recommendations
Hi there, long-term lurker here. I am based in Switzerland although British by birth. I've recently been following a high protein diet plan which recommends lots of cheeses (hard and soft) and dairy products. The breakfasts consist of various combinations of high fat yoghurts, magerquark, Philadelphia

AMANTADINE FOR DYSKINESIA. HAVE YOU AN EXPERIENCE WITH THIS DRUG? PLEASE HELP.
Hi, I might consider this drug for Dyskinesia, if it gets too severe. My MDS is a little reluctant to prescribe it, because he says it may cause insomnia. Nevertheless, is this drug working for your dyskinesia? How long before it started working for you? My doctor said it could take 4 to 8 weeks.

Help!
I’m 73 , have been diagnosed as osteopaenic and have Achilles tendonitis from running couch to 5k where I got to week 9 run 1! I’ve just started walking again and have a sprint bike and weights! I weigh 67.9 kg and would ideally like to lose 7 kg. My lack of motivation and control over my food is beginning

It's all good now!
Pmr hit just about three years ago. I am now reporting one month at zero pred, down from thirty originally. Fingers crossed that that is the end of it. If not then pred is my friend. If I had the opportunity to live my life over and not get Pmr I don't think I would take it. It has taught me a lot of

Low Carb Diet makes a difference?
Does a low carb diet really help? After 5 years of PMR, down to 8 mg daily pred and overweight, I'm ready to try cutting carbs. What has been anybody's diet experience with meat, beans and green veggies with no potatoes, rice, pasta or sweets?

I just don’t have the heart to retype/edit an update. Please forgive my “family version” dialogue: After a painfully long and concerning wait dealing with insurance issues, Jeff finally received his cancer fighting drug, Zytiga. He started taking the Zytiga/Prednisone combo Friday, August 6th. The effects

Keto / Low Carb and Cognitive Functioning
I was reading a story about a woman who improved her memory by following a low carb diet. The research on this subject seems mixed. When I eat very low carb (as opposed to moderately low carb) I swear I have easier access to my subconscious. I also have a lot more memories from many many years ago pop

What I have learned from 1 year with Early Onset PD - "Glass Half Full"
I decided to keep a journal of my journey - it has been quite a year but I have learned a lot. some of which maybe relevant for new and older PD people. I am not a doctor and this is not a medical opinion but there is lots available to make a stand against PD https://fightparkinsonsdisease.files.wordpress.com

Low carb eating - 99p Kindle book recommendation.
This kindle book is available just for today at 99p (- Sunday 1st August 2021.) You can also download a free sample first, to see if it it suits, as I did, but as this doesn’t get to the recipes chapter - and because I find the rest of it a good read, especially the supplements advice, about which

I've been recently diagnosed with high cholesterol & would just like some advice & help where to start with a low fat diet. My GP has refered me to a specialist, but while I wait any hints would be appreciated. Thanks

Extreme lower extremities swelling
I was tapering to fast and returned to my previous painful symptoms. Since July 11 back to 15mls. from 12mls. prednisolone. I have extreme swelling of my feet, ankles and legs. I had no swelling at reduced dose. I am having trouble and pain just walking. In addition I have gained some weight because

LC Cooking and baking
The last few weeks I have been venturing into the world of keto baking, inspired by several other HU users. This is my successful courgette bread. I made some very nice sandwiches with it last weekend. It has 1g carb per slice and it was a very simple recipe. Next to it is my unsuccessful "cloud" bread

Another Question
I have been wandering around the internet most of the week after receiving the suggestion I may have auto immune hepatitis. I am a little bit lost because I come from having another illness (pancreatitis) and was wondering if you have many people on this site who have found you in a similar way? You

Update
Sorry all for not posting in a while. I am a high school counselor and we have been on summer break. I have been doing some mini renovations around my house, traveling and honestly getting caught up on sleep and family time from the craziness of the last year and a half. I went to my GP last week

Is Carbidopa/Levodopa 8x’s a day to much when you have the DBS?
My setting is on 3.30 left side, 1.00 right side. My doctor seems to give me more medicine instead of turning it up and I feel like it is causing a lot more symptoms.

Sharing DBS Journey
Hi, Just wanted to share my dad's process in case it will help anyone... He was diagnosed at 54 years old and will be 70 next month. He is rigidity dominant, experiences freezing of gait (mainly in initiating) and has dyskinesias from his meds (among many other PD symptoms!). Up until almost two years
