Cheese sauce with Guar Gum
Hi all I’m back from my travels and trying to wean myself off eating too much generally and also too much carbohydrate. Yesterday evening I cooked this cauliflower and broccoli cheese. I’ve tried a few low carb cheese sauce recipes, especially a few months ago when lots of people on the weight loss

CGM experiment
Day #1
I've finally got a working Continuous Glucose Monitor, and the results are not what I expected. I installed it on Friday night and started it late Saturday night. I finished dinner about 10pm on Saturday night, low carb, high fat with wine of unknown carbs and didn't

What are the essential things to do before I start T3 ?
Hi everybody! I hope you can advise. I am hoping to try T3 very soon and have been reading one of Paul Robinsons books and trying to prepare. He strongly recommends having a saliva cortisol test and also an 8am morning cortisol blood test before starting T3 medication. So I was hoping if you could

Low or very low protein diets. If you've no uremia, will you obtain any benefit?
I had uremia at CKD3a/b (uremia =higher levels of urea than there ought to be present in your blood). I was at 13.5 when the normal range is 2.5 to 7.8 (thankfully, I'm now at 6.4 due to diet). Because I had uremia at CKD 3a/b, I assumed everyone else would have some sort of uremia at CKD 3a/b. When

Typical med progression?
My friend started taking l-dopa within the past year. She works fulltime and her workplace isn't aware of her diagnosis. Currently she's taking 8 Sinemet 100mg daily, plus 3 or 4 Rytary 145mg. She also takes sleeping medication, and botox for curled toes. She's reading articles on DBS. Any advice

Daily Diary for Wednesday 1st September 2021
Happy 1st September everyone! I know not everyone likes the end of summer, so I thought I'd find a reminder of how beautiful autumn can be. I love it! What about everyone else? What do you think about the changing season? I'm also looking forward to seeing how all your menu plans start to change as different

Will the weight ever drop?
Hi everyone, I'm looking for some help here. Been through a ton of the older posts already. I'm 36 and weight 186 lbs currently. My 'heavy' maintain weight it usually between 159-160lbs and my good weight is anywhere around 140 lbs. I've been yo-yo dieting my whole life which understandably has shot

New here and very anxious!
Hi, my name is Saba, I’m 39 and have been diagnosed with celiac disease just a week ago. I’m very hypochondriac person and get my check ups every 6 months. In February I’ve noticed that my ferritin level dropped a lot, I thought maybe it was cause by diet I was on to lose weight. Then in my July’s check

Blood results help
I have had hashimotos now for 8 years. I developed it post partum and was positive for TPO antibodies. Labs previously tested have only ever been TSH and T4, only TPO antibodies at initial diagnosis, have never looked at T3 or antibodies again. Anyway generally feel ok but weight loss still a problem

Hypothyroidism diet
Can anyone tell me if there is a specific weight loss diet to help lose weight when you have hypothyroidism? I am going to get bloods etc done but have been struggling with an extra couple of stone and been oh Thyroxine for 30 years. I have recently bought books etc but they seem to contradict each other

Can anyone recommend....
some kind of in-run fuelling that isn't based on sugar, or carbohydrates? I know there are some low-carb runners here, what do you do? I know we are meant to be able to run on fresh air when we're fat adapted but I've not reached that holy grail...

Help! Trepidation setting in…
Having not run since I was 11 years old (I remember that day well….) I have decided that I need to get off of my bottom and take my health more seriously. Having largely ignored insulin dependent diabetes since my diagnosis, due to the fact that I am invincible, having slowly and blatantly increased

Metabolic syndrome (disease) can be managed with IF.
Hi everyone, This is good news for sufferers of hereditary metabolic syndrome whose genetic makeup interferes with their metabolism resulting in obesity type 2 diabetes heart disease to name a few conditions that are of concern to sufferers and their families. Here's about Metabolic syndrome and a link

Caught Between Two CCGs and Bureaucracy!
Arghhhhhhhhhhhh!! Right, now that's out the way, if anyone has any ideas I would be grateful. Will try and keep it short for ease. I have Hashimoto's and am hypothyroid. Started self dosing with T3 last August after being on Levo for over a year and feeling dreadful (T3 was bought over the counter

Teeth stuff
Has anybody noticed changes to their teeth since going low carb? I'm almost 12 months in to very low carb for health reasons. No processed food. No added sugars. No grains. No potatoes. No vegetable seed oils. Lots of veg. Small amounts of seasonal fruit. I had my first dental checkup and clean and for

How to Balance Low Sodium and Electrolyte Replacement During Exercise?
There are two nutrition segments who do not communicate much: low sodium diets and electrolyte replacement. I have seen a number of articles about "low sodium backpacking" and "low sodium backpacking meals." There are also many, many articles (likely driven by a lucrative market) on electrolyte replacement

Just realized I might have Coeliac disease. I had radio therapy for prostate cancer a couple of years ago, which blasts the surrounding organs including the bowel. So I thought my symptoms were due to that. But reading all the coeliac symptoms I wondered if that's what it is. So I'm trying a gluten free

A Win and A Question
First, thanks to all here for sharing your vast knowledge and all the deep resources about everything thyroid. I had a follow-up with my doctor yesterday and he did increase my dosage of levothyroxine to 100 mcg (I had been on 50 mcg). Thanks to suggestions here, I had what I needed to present my case
