I thought the programme on channel 5 tonight was excellent, I really felt for those poor people, how differently they coped all of them were very open about there feelings , I got very upset because so much of what they all said I have thought myself but not told anybody, I do have a wonderful husband

Oh Kim what a truly revealing article. I wish I had written it because it is exactly what I am going through now. Thank you Kim and I wish you all that I wish for myself and more for your bravery. I did not want to reveal all, especially 'the electric shock sensations'. I am 76 this year and didn't

Explanation for why PD progression might accelerate during bouts of fever/infection?
A research paper from June 2016 [1] describes how, during bouts of fever or infection, the mitochondria within the dopamine neurons of a PWP could (attempt to) signal the immune system to kill the neuron. Basically, the mitochondria release a specific protein, which is transported to the wall

If You're Thinking of Switching Out Your DA for Lyrica...
Think twice: https://rxisk.org/kicking-lyrica/ The same is true for Gabapentin. In my personal opinion and experience you want to be able to gauge your RLS on a day to day basis and take meds accordingly. Besides the horrors of withdrawal, these two substances do not give you the opportunity to gauge

Adderall
My daughter had been diagnosed with ADD and began taking Adderall in college. She became addicted to it. My understanding is it increases dopamine in the brain. BUT she had anxiety and it increased her anxiety. Does anyone have anxiety and ADD and want to share? I never understood why psychiatrists

I have no drive to live life. What should I do
I think it's related to dopamine, it's what makes you interested in things. I remember I walked into Dominos with a friend to get a pizza once, casually asked about a job advert on the front window, had a 5 minute interview and got the job. I was so happy, my brain must have been flooded with dopamine

Hug
With fibro our sleep is all over the place. My hubbie and I are never in the bed awake at the same time. Last week he put his hand on my back when talking to me. I flinched in pain and said" no need to slap me on the back" he assured me it had only been a light touch. Today I decided we needed a hug,

The exercise conundrum
Why do some say they feel better after exercising and some say worse? The latter group argue that the exercise has used their dopamine up and that it might be an idea to up meds in order to allow exercise to continue. Others claim they were able to reduce their meds as a result of exercise. All very

Dopamine agonists: pathological gambling, increased libido, and hypersexuality
We are currently working with Guy's and St. Thomas's hospital in London to put together a leaflet regarding the potential side-effects of dopamine agonists, particularly focusing on compulsive behaviours which can accompany the use of these drugs, including hyper-sexuality and gambling. 5 Years ago quit smoking :)
With the help of this forum and Champix, I quit smoking 5 years ago - anniversary was on Jan 19. I have to say that I hardly ever think of smoking anymore. The best tip I got about quitting smoking was from this forum - " we quit in the sub-conscious"- I think that was "Austinlegro's" great comment

amantadine, norepinephrine, locus coeruleus, methylphenidate (Ritalin), ceruleus
In 2012 I was taking 3 25/100 of c/l per day and was developing tiredness. A neurologist suggested adding amantadine 2 per day of 100 mg. Within hours of taking the first amantadine, my walking had improved dramatically. I noticed and several neighbors noticed. At least

Dopamine Dope
Had a thought, what if the bits in our brain that are dying are not malfunctioning but shutting down because of they incorrectly sense that we have too much dopamine in our system.

Agonist versus Levadopa
From what I've been reading, it seems that taking a dopamine agonist versus levadopa is a "one or the other" choice. My neurologist has me taking 8 mg ropinirole hcl er once a day (at nighttime) and 25/100 caridopa/levadopa three times a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Is this combination of an
