Coming back to the fold
hi all, I was delighted to lose 20 pounds between July - December 2020 as part of this forum and managed to keep most of it off until recently. Now I'm horrified to see I have put half of it back on again and I want to be sure the other half doesn't join it!. I was really successful with LCHF but the

Low carb diet and high dose prednisone
Hi everyone, I am just wondering if the level of prednisone affects whether or not the low carb diet prevents weight gain. I have gca and have been on high dose prednisone for several weeks now . I am still on 50 mg as I am still having some issues with lingering jaw claudication. I see a rheumatologist

Using Albutrix
I have been using Albutrix for one month. Until I receive my next blood and 24-hour urine test results, I do not know how well it works. I have read the entire book, Stopping Kidney Disease by Lee Hull. It is excellent. I have started to read some of the referenced scientific articles, such as:

Some thoughts on Gluten sensitivity
Gluten, which is found in wheat, may exacerbate Parkinson's-related symptoms in some patients. A brain scan was done on the man that showed abnormalities that were consistent with lower levels of dopamine production, which when combined with the clinical data, led the doctor to diagnose him with PD.

Insulin & glucose in Parkinson's / Ketogenic lifestyle
hi, I am finding that the effect of glucose or insulin has quite an effect on mobility. Before, it seemed that protein alone would interfere with L-Dopa. Now it's not only that, but post-prandial somnolence that can lay me down for hours. Come the next day, I can pretty much lead a "normal" day (with

METFORMIN or BERBERINE? The Same? 1 HUGE Difference! [2021] Interesting Video
EDIT March 17, 2024:
Today somebody shared a link to a two year old post of mine about a report on Berberine being neurotoxic and taking it off of my stack. Within a few months I found other information on Berberine and, using my High School educated brain, decided that Berberine definitely needed

Do I need to tweak my T3 or T4? After feeling so much better hypo symptoms have returned.
Hi After introducing T3(Liothyronine)and reducing my T4 (Levothyroxine) I was feeling great for a couple of weeks. Full of energy and symptom free at last. Then for nearly 2 weeks I had frequent daily episodes of nausea, fatigue, headaches and brain fog. Although the nausea has now subsided I am experiencing

Buserelin advice
Hi guys, Does anyone have experience of buserelin injections? I’m two weeks in, have been using the 50iu insulin syringes that were supplied by pharmacy but I’ve realised that the needle length is 8mm and most sub cuts are longer needles.. the prescription didn’t specify needle length, does this matter

Thanks to this group!
Hi all, just wanted to post a big thank you to this group and it’s lovely members. A few years ago I was having real problems, lots of odd symptoms and doctors kept telling me everything was fine, implying it was all in my head. Even when I had to have 1/2 my thyroid removed for a goitre I was still

PET/CT scan and horrific increase in PMR pain
The steroids wreck havoc with my
diabetes
(insulin dependent). I eat LOW carb
diet
. I cannot exercise like to talk walks, etc. I must get another PET/CT with a different trace (looking for Neuroendocrine tumors) and it will be 40 min again lying on back and still. I never lie on back.

My PCP seems to think this was caused by a combination of inflamatories for my severe arthritis and metformin and of course HBP and

Child anxiety
9 yr old Child is constantly worried they will throw up. It has gotten to the point of constant crying. My child doesn’t even look like my child anymore when she’s home.. we have been to multiple GIs and an EMT. We have seen her general provider for this issue and had numerous test, blood, ct and ultrasounds

Pretty quick failure of ADT + Zytiga... next?
Quick history: 2019 PSA of 20, a few probable spinal mets, bicalutamide monotherapy mid-2020 for six months failed early-2021 after PSA dropped to 3.8. Tried to initiate ADT via tE2 with estrogen patches in Spring 2021, but could not get T to castrate levels, stubbornly above 150 even at higher doses

Down to 6mg but feeling it! Shall I persevere?
I went to Cape Verde on holiday at the start of December and was worried I may have a flare. I was on 7.5mg pred and I was great. Since then I’ve gone down to 6mg which I’ve now been on for about 8 days and am feeling weak. I have some pain in my upper arms but not unbearable like when diagnosed and

Low protein diet article
Low protein diets were discovered to help CKD and to postpone kidney failure as far back as the 19th century. Now it seems to be touted as a new approach. I found the article interesting. I was looking up diets to increase my protein since it's below normal on my last bloodwork and came across this
