Hi there I'm new to the group, and I'm apologising in advance for the long post. Advice is really needed. I was diagnosed as having non diabetic hypoglycaemia a few month ago, I was given some printed out advice from the GP on that advice it states I am not diabetic I am not borderline diabetic but

Dextrose or lucozade tablets
Hi, as a type 1 diabetic for 43 years I rely on these to treat low blood sugars. I’m now coeliac and have read they’re off limits? I’m a bit confused as had only neurological symptoms before I was diagnosed - which have mostly gone after a month but I now have some stomach issues and wondered if these

Low carb diets...???
I really need to find out more about this. A couple of days ago, I got my lab results back and they are clearly indicative of insulin resistance: fasting glucose 110 mg/dL (ref 70-105) and fasting insulin 18 uU/mL (ref 2.6-24.9; should be <5 according to several low carb forums I've visited). Anyway,

MTHFR/LAB WORK
Hello, I have recently got my blood & saliva test back. I cannot see my NEW Dr until Nov 14th. She did email me on blood work and said everything looked good except iron and wanted me to take an iron supplement. Before I went to her the first time in August 2019, I was dealing with severe fatigue, exercise

How long does it take to get into "Fat burning mode" with IF, LCHF and exercise?
Intermittent Fasting is not eating all day, and, when you are not eating, your glycogen energy gets depleted, and you start to get energy from your fat reserves. (Intermittent) Fasting is about so much more than weight loss, but burning fat to lose weight and improve body-fat percentage the main reason

What is energy?
This page on the British Nutrition Foundation website was mentioned here recently. It encapsulates almost every incorrect belief in mainstream nutrition, and I thought it would be instructive to pull it apart: https://www.nutrition.org.uk/healthyliving/basics/what-is-energy.html I do realise, incidentally

Endo symptoms or IBS??
Hi all, I'm new here! I'm 26 and was diagnosed with extensive presumptive endometriosis/salpingosis in 2014, along with a retroverted uterus. All through my teens my periods were ridiculously intense - I used to have to stay home from school some days as I was constantly sat on the toilet both constantly

Sugar and cancer, in particular Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL/SLL) – what you need to know
We've had a few questions lately about whether we should avoid sugar after a diagnosis of CLL, from members concerned about the influence of sugar in their diet on their CLL progression and of course because of the simplistic claim that sugar feeds cancer cells, so starving ourselves of sugar will starve

Update on Labs
As a result of some of the helpful comments from fellow warriors I began tracking the blood levels below in addition to my compulsive monthly focus on PSA. The oncologist has had me getting a comprehensive metabolic test every 2 weeks for the first 3 months on Zytiga to see how it affects the kidneys

discovery suggests that it may not be glucose that drives chronic inflammation within type 2 diabetes.

Self-experiment with Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM)
In November 2017 Dr David Unwin (@lowcarbgp) used a CGM for a month. I recorded all his Twitter images and comments and copy/pasted them into a document that I share with people I talk to as a local Healthwatch and Council Community Health Champion Volunteer as they are so educational. A fellow GP

Tapering with gca okay
Saw ophthalmologist on 8/15. Says "eyes are better, but not there yet. " Will do another visual field test in one month. Showed me test results on computer screen with dots filling in much of the outer parts of image which I understood to be damage in peripheral visual areas. Does this make sense? Haven't

Ckd prognosis
Question why does so much info on the internet claim ckd will always worsen. I was diagnosed 5 years ago with a gfr of 50, since then my numbers have been no lower than 50 up to 60. My blood pressure and glucose are well controlled. There just seems to be too much negativity out there.

It Might be Mitochondria
There is some interesting research here that suggests mitochondria rather than glucose or insulin levels may drive inflammation particularly in Type II Diabetes: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190821082238.htm
