My daughter has just got her result from a blood cortisol test and it is 46. Her G.P. told her to stop her levo which Dr. Skinner prescribed her, as she said she is hyper, but she does not any hyper symptoms. She has not seen any improvement on levo though. What's with all the cortisol testing the Endo wants done? And why say no thyroid issue then retest me??
Hi all, just thought I'd pop by and let you know how my first appointment went. She basically dismissed thyroid as being the issue, even though my ranges for ft3 and ft4 are in the low 'normal' range (although, she still took more bloods for tsh, ft3, ft4 again, which I'm confused about) She was however

Any creams that have helped, obviously cant use a cream up inside my rectum unless

Do these bloods look normal? Seeing Endocrinologist on 5/12/2013 for the first time, what to expect?
Hi there, I'm new to this forum, but could really do with some advice. I've felt shattered for a long time now, but put it down to having 3 daughters, youngest is 3 yrs and bad birth with her, she came very fast, but then I ended up in surgery as the afterbirth would not detach (sorry TMI), Basically

Low cortisol/DHEA and now have 9am cortisol test results
I have very low cortisol and DHEA (confirmed on saliva test) Dr sent me for 9am Cortisol test which came back at 376 (Range 100 - 400) I believe from what I have read that secondary adrenal insufficiency cannot be ruled out without Synacthen test. I had a short Synacthen test done in Feb 2012 (results

Is there a simple of list anywhere of all recommended blood tests?
I am finally trying to get to the bottom of my likely long-term hyper. Symptomatic with TSH of 0.6 (last year). Requested T3, T4 and blood cortisol and awaiting results. I'd like comprehensive testing to get the full picture - have read about auto-immune tests, adrenal tests, vitamin tests etc. - is

Thanks so much for the info about anaethesia ..... apparently now not yet ....have to have cortisone injections in my hips first! :(
My GP says no op until all other avenues explored, so
cortisone
injections on Saturday .... don't like the sound of these (my GP is a bit brutal to be honest, and he's giving me the jabs. I think stiff upper lip will be required.) ...

Does anyone take magnesium as a supplement and has it helped your PMR symptoms?
There was also mention of
cortisone
depleting magnesium from the body. Magnesium is also recommended for treating insomnia and stress. I'm going to give it a try. Does anyone else take it and do you find it has helped your PMR?

genova Diagnostics - Cortisol / DHEA. Results back.
I'm almost in tears because I have just confirmed that I'm not mad. I've been suffering from all the symptoms of CFS and auto-immune for the last 3 years. The "doctors" at my surgery have given three answers: "Get a new barber", "I think we should try you on anti-depressants" and "I have to stick within

T3 and Thyroxine Question
I have always had a low t4 and also t3. Been through years of investigations and blood tests and even had the thyroid mafia dr's trying to say I didn't need 'any' thyroid meds and they were responsible for my abnormal alp's etc. They kept me off it for 5 months, whilst I really suffered. Also been

Surprising reaction from rheumatologist today!
Whereas 3 months ago I was dismissed almost summarily with "No PMR " on this occasion I was even offered
Cortisone
injections in both shoulders---No PMR, so why would I need them? In the event I turned down the offer, considering I was full enough of steroids without any additional dosage.

New to RA, who to listen to?
Luckily she did send me to a rheumatologist a while back for
cortisone
injections in my hands, and when I went to see her recently, she noticed how badly I was doing and sent me for blood work. Lo and behold, RA. So I have been on injections of MetX for 3 weeks now.
