Colomycin

Hi, I’ve recently reluctantly agreed to try nebulising colomycin. It’s going ok apart from being so time consuming. It takes ages for the saline to completely dissolve the powder, and in spite of gently rolling, not shaking, the bottle, it still gets frothy when nebulising. Any advice please?

I have just had my nebulised Colomycin increased from 1 million to 2 million. Has anyone had any side effects from the 2 million dosage? Many thanks.

Has anyone out there got travel insurance while being on colomycin ? I am on it supposedly for 3 months and need to get insurance for a holiday that is due soon.

I use a Salbutanol inhaler spray to open my lungs before using a Colomycin antibiotic for infection. These are supplied and monitored by my Resp consultant . It could be pretty hazardous to use anything without this check.Best of luck, I do understand your problems.

Can anyone offer any tips, is the chest tightness normal with Colomycin, what's your experience with Psedomonus?? I have booked a weeks holiday with my children in April and am praying that I keep well and at least be not so breathless so I can walk about.

Went back to the surgery and explained Consultant had specified Colomycin and they changed my prescription for next time. But when I went in the pharmacy to make sure they were able to get Colomycin they have agreed to take back the Promixin and dispense Colomycin. Result!

recently started having sciatic like leg pains in my hip and legs; especially on walking a bit further I’ve been poorly in the last half of 2024 and stopped responding to oral antibiotics After a hospital stay and two IV antibiotics courses finally feel much better and am now just on nebulised Colomycin

I’m wondering if there is anyone on the above drug. I have been on it now for 10 days and will stay on it for 12 weeks. I have been pretty unwell since March with re occurring psuedamonas. I am on oxygen therapy, I also have bronciectasis and past T.B. also chicken pox pneumonia, I am on steroid therapy

I have been on Colomycin nebuliser for many, many years which I obtained from our local hospital. Now my consultant has decided for me to obtain the prescription from my GP surgery. But when I collected the meds from my local pharmacy they had dispensed Promixin instead.

I’m still inhaling Colomycin and taking Flucloxacillin as the usual prophylactics as well. Have you continued with yours on IVs ? When I inhale the pain in lungs is present. Just curious. I will ask when I return for second week. Thank you.

Hi there, Has anyone been on nebulised colomycin long term and then just suddenly stopped? Can this bug really be eradicated or it is just that the number count gets too low to show up in the lab? Thanks in advance for any help.

Continuing with the trial but feeling quite low.Anyone else had experience of inhaled colomycin please?

since starting on this last October my breathing has got worse and wheezing my docters know about this but tell me to carry on still have six weeks of this should I stop

Morning all, l have been on nebulised Colomycin since last August. Although it has kept infections at bay, l am more breathless than l used to be and energy levels are very low. I have told that l will be on this medication for a long time as my lungs are very badly damaged.

I also nebulise colomycin which is a antibiotic. Last month I managed to cycle like 10 mins 3 times before the wheezing started again. I also feel sometimes that fostair actually makes the whhleezing worse. I also produce a lot of phlegm/mucus and sometimes wake up because of this.

or do you eventually have to take both the colomycin and Azithromycin I've just been put the colomycin for now many thanks

i have pseudonomas and need to take colomycin 2x a day for 3 months but am going abroad and need to know how to carry on my treatment whilst away from home

If this doesn't help it will be back to the Colomycin but its worth a try. Thank you. Linda

I've recently finished a month of oral antibiotics for Klebsiella and according to my last test this has now gone but belt and braces my consultant has put me back on Colomycin for 45 days and possibly longer. Any replies would be very much appreciated.
