Colomycin

Went back to the surgery and explained Consultant had specified Colomycin and they changed my prescription for next time. But when I went in the pharmacy to make sure they were able to get Colomycin they have agreed to take back the Promixin and dispense Colomycin. Result!

I’m wondering if there is anyone on the above drug. I have been on it now for 10 days and will stay on it for 12 weeks. I have been pretty unwell since March with re occurring psuedamonas. I am on oxygen therapy, I also have bronciectasis and past T.B. also chicken pox pneumonia, I am on steroid therapy

I have been on Colomycin nebuliser for many, many years which I obtained from our local hospital. Now my consultant has decided for me to obtain the prescription from my GP surgery. But when I collected the meds from my local pharmacy they had dispensed Promixin instead.

I’m still inhaling Colomycin and taking Flucloxacillin as the usual prophylactics as well. Have you continued with yours on IVs ? When I inhale the pain in lungs is present. Just curious. I will ask when I return for second week. Thank you.

Hi there, Has anyone been on nebulised colomycin long term and then just suddenly stopped? Can this bug really be eradicated or it is just that the number count gets too low to show up in the lab? Thanks in advance for any help.

since starting on this last October my breathing has got worse and wheezing my docters know about this but tell me to carry on still have six weeks of this should I stop

Morning all, l have been on nebulised Colomycin since last August. Although it has kept infections at bay, l am more breathless than l used to be and energy levels are very low. I have told that l will be on this medication for a long time as my lungs are very badly damaged.

or do you eventually have to take both the colomycin and Azithromycin I've just been put the colomycin for now many thanks

I also nebulise colomycin which is a antibiotic. Last month I managed to cycle like 10 mins 3 times before the wheezing started again. I also feel sometimes that fostair actually makes the whhleezing worse. I also produce a lot of phlegm/mucus and sometimes wake up because of this.

i have pseudonomas and need to take colomycin 2x a day for 3 months but am going abroad and need to know how to carry on my treatment whilst away from home

I've recently finished a month of oral antibiotics for Klebsiella and according to my last test this has now gone but belt and braces my consultant has put me back on Colomycin for 45 days and possibly longer. Any replies would be very much appreciated.

If this doesn't help it will be back to the Colomycin but its worth a try. Thank you. Linda

Hi All I've recently been put on nebulised salbutamol and colomycin after being colonised with Pseudomonas.

I thought my quality of life was going to get better with the Colomycin, but now I feel these different symptoms are making me just as miserable. I'm desperate for the Colomycin to work to prevent me requiring frequent intravenous antibiotics.

I have been put on Colomycin inhaled medication for a year..to keep the the bugs at bay. Does this mean that if l come off Colomycin that l will be really ill again?

meds for asthma are steroid nebs which are budesonide 2mg twice daily and ipatropium nebs 250mcg, plus the usual montelukast 10mg x1 daily, fexofenadine 180mg x1 twice daily, dymista nasal spray, acetylcysteine 600mg (mucolytic for chest clearance), Doxycyline 100mg x1 daily (prophylactic antibiotic), colomycin

I have just started taking colomycin in Nebuliser for pseudomonas infection.

I am currently on colomycin via a nebuliser and was also on azithromycin from June till 1st September and leaving up to my surgery I actually started to cycle again and was back in the gym. I stopped azithromycin after surgery and it just seems strange that Ive started to feel ill again.

Fetching up a lot more mucus recently which is a real nuisance My consultant had suggested inhaled colomycin at my last appt in March but have been reluctant to start it …it’s all so time consuming! ..🙄 Wondering whether to try lungwort first🤔
