Inhaled Colomycin - dark brown mucus

Hi Sorry for the yucky detail but I’d be interested to hear from anyone on inhaled colomycin. I was on it for 3 months earlier in the year then stopped, cultured Pseudo again, took a course of Cipro and now back on inhaled Colomycin.

Change in symptoms

I am on azithromycin 3 times a week and colomycin nebuliser twice a day. I'm unable to produce even a pin head of sputum so I'm a bit worried about what's going on. I am quite wheezy.

Any Nebulised Colomycin users? ... Need advice please

Recent flare up managed to tolerate the Cipro by taking PPI at same time ....consultant recently suggested I start nebulized colomycin.... In part because I am a carer for husband with advanced Parkinsons, and need to stay well / out of Hospital.

Do you have to use Salbutamol before inhaled Colomycin?

Hi, Does anyone using nebulised Colomycin for Pseudomonas also use Salbutomol before the nebulised Colomycin. I was given this at the hospital but I am getting a horrible panic type jittery and shaky reaction from it. I have tried the Colomycin without it and feel much better.

Pseudomonas and Colomycin nebs

Hi, I just wondered how long you’re usually prescribed nebulised Colomycin for? I had 3 month course last year, then it was stopped, but due to repeated infections I was prescribed another course but for 6 months this time (or until my next review)?

Does inhaled Colomycin for Pseudomonas cause increased mucus production?

Hi, I’ve been using inhaled Colomycin for a week now after a tricky start! I’m experienced increased mucus production (I don’t usually produce much) and I feel slightly more breathless.

I V Antibiotics at home - bad after effects

Was puzzled why had it, rummaged through rubbish bag of wipes etc left by nurses, and found leaflet that had come with COLOMYCIN. Possible side effects include dizziness and loss of balance. I regret that the nurses had not given me the leaflets, and I had not asked for them.

Switch from Azithromycin to Doxycycline

Hi, I have severe asthma and pseudomonas infection for which I’ve been put back on Colomycin nebs following an infection that wouldn’t resolve, but did after I asked my GP if we could try a course of cipro (they didn’t try that first as sputum sample didn’t show pseudomonas).

Pseudomonas

Hi - I posted recently about having had a pseudomonas infection which I was treated with nebulised colomycin. Since stopping I’ve developed a cough again with sputum and had temperature spikes similar to before.

What do you take?

I am on twice daily nebulised Colomycin that's all. Unless I get an infection when I am prescribed Ciprofloxacin which has horrid side effects (for me) and just been told that this disease is resistant to 99% of antibiotics. What do fellow sufferers take, any help much appreciated. ps not in UK

TWO NEW PATHOGENS IN LUNGS

I originally had pseudomonas and was treated with colomycin which supposedly has eradicated them. 7 My recent sputum sample showed two new pathogens in my lungs which my respiratory nurse said were difficult to treat.

Bronchiectasis and Infections

I’m on inhaled Colomycin and it’s never ending and I’m so fed up! I’m asthmatic as well so inhale on a nebuliser for this. Staph seems to be fairly colonised as does pseudomonas. So any advice or cheery word is welcome xx
