just started nebulised tobramycin after Colomycin since 2022 has stopped working

Always took about 15-20minutes

Took 40 minutes at assessment and up to 50 at home

Long long time. Anyone else experiencing this ???

Change your nebulizer? I have a PARI eflow which is very efficient and reduces the time for two treatments 3% saline + Colomycin down to 17 minutes. Perhaps it is a thicker, sticky antibiotic which takes longer to go through?

I was also going to ask if you have the right nebuliser. I use a pari boy classic for colomycin and budesnide. Both are thick and will only bubble up on less powerful nebulisers. Also ensure you have the right mouth piece.

Thanks for your reply

I do use the pari nebuliser with strong compressor from the hospital

Managed to nebulise in 30 minutes last night by taking deep breaths but then spent most of the evening coughing with clear frothy sputum

Also couldn’t eat my tea properly afterwards

Will ring the nurse tomorrow
