I have recently started having sciatic like leg pains in my hip and legs; especially on walking a bit further
I’ve been poorly in the last half of 2024 and stopped responding to oral antibiotics
After a hospital stay and two IV antibiotics courses finally feel much better and am now just on nebulised Colomycin as colonised pseudomonas
Am now able to walk further before getting really breathless so this new symptom really annoying. Just curious to know if any of you have experienced this and is there a possible link or just coincidence
I’m seeing my consultant on 4th feb to discuss everything but would like any feedback from you lovely folks
Dorne

HiI'm sorry to hear about your problem, I also suffer with the same problem which has gotten worse over time, even with physio.
I posted something similar a few days ago and was told about something called P A.D.
I also did some investigation myself and found out about claudication.
You should ask your lung specialist about P.A.D and claudication as I'm not sure how they test for it.
I also have arthritis in both hips which doesn't help.
I have found out that lung disease can often mean less oxygen in your system, which in turn also affects muscles, especially in the lower part of your body.
I'm seeing the specialist soon so will be talking about these problems as well.
I know someone with PAD and loss of hair on the legs was one sign of it but don’t know if it happens to everyone. Pan in the legs and eventually sores on the foot but it is usually pretty advanced by then.
Hi Dorne.. I wonder if the pains are because you've been laid up and unable to exercise regularly? I know when I've not been walking regularly, then I sometimes get pains, particularly in my hips when I start walking again. It generally wears off within time with exercise. Worth mentioning to your doctor anyway. Glad your lungs are feeling better and hope you resolve the issue with pains. Sally xx
hi just re your sciatic pain use frozen gel Packs on your spine - wrap in t towel So it’s not directly on skin - repeat this as often as possible - it will reduce any inflammation and calm the nerve/disc area. You can tuck it in trouser/pant waistband Pain down your bum/leg will probably be referred pain from your spine /nerves . Being very erect when walking will also help. Good luck
Hi Dorne, I had a similar episode back in May. My doctor didn't know how to treat it except with pain relief and physio. After two weeks of this awful pain and my right leg going dead I sorted out private physio. The next two weeks were awful exercise daily but no relief. I then went to the NHS physio who was marvellous. After reading my history he examined me and showed me two exercises to do daily until the following weekly session. It took 6 weeks before the leg responded but I am so grateful to the NHS physio who taught me how to keep this awful sciatica pain at bay. Do ask yr GP for help. Maximonkey
