My understanding is, production of Promixin has ceased (a branded form of colomycin, which I take). So all Promixin users are being transferred to generic colomycin. But unfortunately there’s a shortage atm - possibly connected! - but supplies are expected to resume in mid April. I’ll try and find more info

I can’t get mine atm. My surgery has promised to keep trying and I have a few supplies in stock. They were short with the nebuliser mixer too. On googling it I came up with the same as Janedivney. I hope you get yours soon. You could try ringing around a few pharmacies to see if they have any stock.

My surgery has been unable to get colomycin for three weeks. None of the pharmacies in my area is able to provide and as of today I am right out of it.I was told to contact my bronchiectasis clinic to see if I can get it through the hospital.

Years ago, when considering other options, a consultant at the Brompton told me it would take at least a month after stopping colomycin before pseudomonas took hold again. Supplies are due back again in mid April, so we can only hope he was right

Indeed. The reply from my bronchiectasis nurse was to nebulise colomycin once a day instead of twice. I had already done that, but have now run out completely, so they said just to wait for supplies in mid-April. I have not tested positive for pseudomonas since 2021, so perhaps an opportunity to see if it is just hiding or completely gone.

You might be lucky, although in my experience it always comes back eventually. You never know, though…

This is sad if you need it.

I have only used a Nubulizer when I had pneumonia. I hope you are able to find a replacement.
