The Hedge Schools Of Ireland...
Time was, from around the end of the 17th c right up to the introduction of National Schooling in the mid 19th c, that Catholic children living in Ireland were not allowed to attend any form of school... After all educated people are dangerous people and the British already had quite enough to contend

Good morning all
It's lovely to see all the new faces on here. I love to see all those guys out there giving nic the big boot! It is so hard when you have had that evil little crutch supporting you over the years. Looking at the poll - many of us started smoking between 15-20 (me too!) Forty years on I have finally managed

Hi, My name is Carmel. I have posted on here once before as my sister was diagnosed with lung cancer in February this year. I'm happy to say at this point in time she is doing very well and is doing a lot of natural therapies (organic alkaline diet, hyperbaric chamber, going to the gym etc) as well as

New Diagnosis
Still in shock really, I suppose. I went to the doctors because I was a bit breathless when I went dancing. I had a x-ray and then a referral for a CT scan and 2 days later an appointment with the consultant. It was a very long 3 weeks. I had by then already worked out that it was probably lung cancer

Boring? Not In The Least...
The photograph is of Anne Puckeridge...she died in the 1870's in Australia...one of Himself's people. I've been having a think, prompted by a comment which Emmo left actually...she said all her people were ag labs and quite boring...of course not everyone has a family tree stuffed with really interesting

Do organs get checked before transplant
Sadly there is a lot on the news about the 2 men who died after kidney transplants at the uhw which is up the road from me. The donors kidneys were infected with something called Meningeoencephaltis which was caused by a parasitic worm. As some of you know im hoping for a double lung transplant next

Little bit scared..
I have been waiting nearly 6 weeks for the results of my Bronchoscopy, on the 6th nov. at 2pm I will have a video link up with the specialist and get the results...I have no family near me they are all in different states and one is in the US, so you can understand perhaps how I`m feeling. I was diagnosed

Any support greatly received
Hi everyone, it's great to find a forum to share and receive support. My beloved brother has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer which has spread to his liver. He has just turned 50 and had been visiting his GP since December with a persistent cough for the previous 6 months before his diagnosis

Not again!
Went to see my consultant on tuesday, he was really pleased with me, no change since I last seen him in feb, so much so he wants to leave it for 6 months before we talk about lung transplant again. My hubby and i came home feeling really pleased, then I get up today with sharp pain on upper rightside

Thank you
I just wanted to thank all of you that helped us through this past year or so. My husband Kevin sadly passed away in August. He'd been on Iressa for 7 months and with it shrinking the tumours he was able to get back to doing the work he loved. The Iressa stopped working in May and his health deteriorated
