HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
May 1213 bring continuing improvements in quicker cancer diagnosis, treatments and ever increasing longevity in patients. What is clear is that after many years of chemotherapy and radiation, we're in the midst of an explosion in novel lung cancer treatment options. This could be an amazing year.

The new anti-smoking campaign. No mention of COPD ?
The governments new anti-smoking campaign focuses on lung cancer but doesn't mention COPD. Apparently COPD kills more people each year than lung cancer and breast cancer combined. Knowing abut smoking and lung cancer did not make me stop, Perhaps knowing about COPD as well may have made me think.Seeing

Why Do Some Lifelong Non-smokers Get Lung Cancer?
A new American Cancer Society study analyzed data on lung cancer occurrence among lifelong non-smokers in North America, Europe, and Asia found that lung cancer death rates among never-smokers are highest among men. The review, the largest to date of lifelong non-smokers, also suggests that the death

Not the news I wanted to hear :((
Just returned from my oncology appointment, the one I have been waiting for to get the results of my latest CT scan. Not the best of news....I have some tumour progression. I knew It would happen eventually and did expect it as I've been coughing for the last 3 weeks but still it was a shock. I've been

Soup to clear your head?
I like messing about in the kitchen. I will start following a recipe, then I think I can improve this. Sometimes it does, sometimes it is less than successful. Today I tried a soup. I like spicy. For those who like something like mulligatawny, this might work. It started for as carrot and ginger, then

We got married 2 months ago after saving for 3 years and this was a bomb shell we hadn't planed on.I have now had X-rays, ct scans , lung function tests and just had a

collapsed
during the biopsy and I spent 3 days in ICU.

Recovering from double pnuemonia, collapsed lung and fluid around the heart.
I am now home from hospital after 7 weeks stay with the above. Twice in the intensive care unit and then high dependency, family were sent for twice and to say I've had the biggest scare of my life would be an understatement. Respiratory consultant has said I will not be back to work before the "New

Anyone else in my position?
Both my mum and I were diagnosed with lung cancer on the same day in the same clinic by the same consultant! September 11th 2012. Both of us are receiving palliative care as there is no cure although I am undergoing chemo which will hopefully slow things down. We are both reconciled to the fact that

Week 4 runs 1 and 2 - and the killer stitch
So, did week 4 run 1 on Saturday after a long shift and got home, went food shopping then out for a run. Started out well, getting into the groove in the first 3 mins, and could sense a stitch coming on, so when I was walking I took it steady and trying to breath into the stitch on my right side.

Dad update
As you know, dad has been very ill since going into hopsital Monday morning, he hasn't been eating, drinking or sleeping etc and has been in a bad way. When I saw dad yesterday, he was so clammy and flushed and not comfortable at all. I gave him bed bath and helped freshen him up and change his pjs,
