has anyone been told to take collagen by their rheumatologist?

I’m thinking of trying collagen peptides. Does anyone have any experience, info, recommendations about them?

They have recently launched their Collagen Powder which I would also like to try but I’m wondering if it’s safe to do so while taking Levo? I would space it out and not take it at the same time but if the ingredients are going to cause any interactions then I won’t take it.

Does anyone here use collagen supplement and does it really help with hair or skin as they say? If you do which brand do you use and is it better in tablets or liquid form. Also how much do you take daily and for how long until you can notice any difference? Thanks.

taking collagen as it is not good for people with liver disease as the liver has to process it.

Finally is there any solid research on collagen and bone health? I understand there are lots of different types of collagen and only some affect bone health. I'd be very grateful if you can shine a l light on any of these. Thank you.

Hi, has anyone any experience with taking a collagen supplement? I suffer from IBS C and would like to try collagen for joint pain etc, but am nervous of it making my IBS worse. Any advice gratefully received.

Hair thinning very noticeable now, , doubt cause is pmr, rheumy quire sure dont have pmr anymore, but severe arthritis throughout, back, hip hands etc, still on pred doen to 4 mgs now since last April, so wondering if anyone has noticed improvement on hair loss taking collagen supplements, not sure what

I have been told that essential amino acids are useful and I now take grass fed, no hormone, organic beef collagen to obtain these. (Collagen types 1 and 3) Many thanks, Jill

I’ve been taking marine collagen 3000mg tablets from Holland and Barratt which are difficult to swallow. I messaged another supplier asking if they had easier to swallow pills. They said they don’t, but they don’t recommend the marine collagen for bone strengthening.

I currently take zinc and copper combined, probiotics, high strength omega 3 and marine collagen with my lunch.

Doubling down on the Collagen powder, Genacol, Turmeric. Hopefully, it will improve post-ADT. Any advice would be welcome.

Hi, I have searched the site re the above and most concerns relate to cost and getting collagen from diet rather than paying large sums for a packaged preparation. The main reason i want to take it is the hype regarding bloating, gut healing and digestive issues.

I changed my supplement intake to the previous ( vitamin C 1000 mg + Zinc 15 mg + Vitamin D 1000 IU ) and added ( Biotin + Collagen ). Best collagen is from bone broth. I also rejoined the gym which has helped with removal of phlegm still trapped within the chest cavity.

Prednisone has been hard on my skin, I have low muscular mass due to very low collagen that has affected my bone density, and hair loss. So far it has not affected my random glucose, my liver enzymes are normal. and eGFR is 91.

It was new to me as well and I am hopeful that my body will produce enough collagen to support this new shoulder. I’m on so many supplements for collagen building and I can tell you my stomach is revolting. But this surgeon is the guru of the world(literally) for shoulder surgery.

I wanted to know has anyone tried collagen supplement it is supposed to be good for hair and nails. Will this have any effect on steroids or my PMR. I don’t want to make this worse. Thank you

I have also been taking taking liquid collagen with biotin and now 9 months later my hair is actually thicker than it was before. I order it on line. Also, I am taking the liquid form of calcium with Mag. It is so much easier than dealing with the large calcium pills. I also order on line.
