Itching (I know it is redundant)
I have tried the
Colestyramine
, Benadryl, "ice" topical, and cold packs. I am passing 48 hours without sleep. I never had the "itch" prior to starting OCA, but as that is my only treatment option for my PBC, you do what you have to do, right?

Cholestyramine as monotherapy for Graves’ hyperthyroidism
From time to time we have seen someone suffering from hyperthyroidism who has had problems with carbimazole and propylthiouracil. This brief paper/note could be of interest to anyone in that dreadful situation.

B12 injections/Questran
So here I am asking if anyone has any experience of
colestyramine
reducing the efficacy of an intra muscular injection. When taking Questran a window of 4-6 hours has to be left before taking any other medication in tablet form.

Cholestyramine washout following Leflunamide
Hi, I'm new to the site; diagnosed with RA in January, hands and wrists badly affected with pain, and my left hand contorting rather. I am a nurse, but have been off sick since March, My consultant started me on oral Methotrexate, but after 2 weeks my liver function tests were so abnormal I had to stop

Think I have been a bit dense!
I can be a bit slow on the uptake sometimes and I think this has been one of those occasions :-) I am given
colestyramine
as part of the treatment for an autoimmune disease named Primary Biliary Cirrhosis.

Itching
I started
colestyramine
last summer, naltrexone was added later but I could not tolerate it. I was given Rifampicin at 150mg twice a day. The itch continues - yesterday the specialist upped the dose to 300mg twice a day. I try not to be a pain about the itch but it does bring me so low.

More questions than answers
Can anyone tell me what juice they use to disguise the
colestyramine
powder? I now have to disguise 2 scoops at a time.

What to blame?
Has anyone gone on cholestyramine for the itch of PBC and then had trouble with it changing your bowel habits? Since my recent increase of the cholestyramine things are different and I don't know if its the medicine or just the ibs I also have.

IBS-D result at last
I've suffered with IBS D for almost 10 years. I've tried low FODMAP, different types of fibre, low fibre, low fat, Pro biotics, small meals, peppermint tea (which I quite like to be honest), exercise, etc etc.....then I read an article about someone with "Bile Acid Diarrhea". The lady in the article

So tired and itchy and tired of being itchy
Hi all, I was diagnosed with PBC last summer and put on 1500 mg of Urso a day, I also take cholestyramine in the mornings. They could not advise of what stage I am in because the doctor who did my biopsy did not take a big enough sample (Ugh). Anyway, I get my bloodwork done every three months; my

Anyone taking Rifampicin?
Hi everyone, I saw the specialist this afternoon, as an itcher not cured by cholestyramine I was prescribed Naltrexone which gave me some very unpleasant side effects. I now have a two month supply of Rifampicin which I understand is an anti biotic. I think anti biotics can destroy the good gut bacteria

Low wbc with Spleenomegally and aih, pbc along with scleroderma and Lupus
Often I have low wbc and require Granix to pick them up with the help of my hematologist. I take Ursodiol which does help with PBC. For the itching my doc recommends I take Cymbalta with Urso and Cholestyramine powder together and it works pretty well. The powder u need to take it 1 hour before meds

Please read this - I was misdiagnosed and after years of suffering with IBS I find out I don't have it
I spoke to my GP and we test the theory out by taking the treatment of
colestyramine
. I take 2 sachets a day in ornage juice and I am now more or less fine. I can eat whenever I want and whatever I want with very minor and rare consequences. Gall bladder removel is just one cause.

Misdiagnosis
I was put on
Colestyramine
sachets and I no longer have any problems at all. I take a couple of powder sachets in 150ml of orange juice in the morning and can now pretty much eat what I want, when I want. I would recommend everyone look it up as it has massively improved my lifestyle.

Itching and me
With a change of surgeries I asked for Questran, (
colestyramine
) to be prescribed. By October the
colestyramine
has made life a lot better but my skin still crawls in some places and burns on my forearms.
