Tapering
Ive had PMR for nearly 5 years and I’m currently on 4 mgs of prednisolone. I’ve been taking it at 4am but recently been waking up in a lot of pain …mostly arms and legs. This week I had 4 dental implants done which went well but I’m thinking I should have increased it before although I was struggling

Just been diagnosed with PMR 3 weeks after having Gall Bladder removed??
I’ve just been diagnosed with PMR after 3 weeks of severe pain in shoulders, arm, wrists, hips & thighs. Taking 15mg of Prednisolone & will be starting Cali-D & Alendronic in a few days. My question is and no doctor has told me yes or no is this anyway connected to my bout of gallstones and acute pancreatitis

Low enough pred to get low cortisol symptoms?
I feel rotten. Am on 6 mgs prednisolone— 4 in am, 2 at night. Bad fatigue esp in early afternoon, resulting in need to nap, shoulders and legs feel weak, no stamina. Losing weight, poor appetite. Besides PMR, have diabetes 2 and a pinched nerve in lower back that means right buttock pain. (getting

Questions about rise in HbA1c
Hi, I started on prednisolone 20mgs on 26th January this year for 4 weeks, tapering 1mg every two weeks, currently on 16mgs (10 mgs am, 6mgs pm). HbA1c last August was 5.5% , result last week was 6% (42.0 mol/mol). My diet has been much the same throughout although I’ve been trying to reduce carbs further

Is there a test for Adrenal insufficiency?
Saw my GP today which was a complete waste of time as I seemed to know much more about my various ailments & just referred me back to consultants, when what I need is someone to look at my overall health as a whole. Have PMR/Myositis, need a new knee with a DVT in the leg with complications, due for

Prednisolone problems
Hi everybody, Lately I had some breathing problems so on the nurse's advice I took a (low) dose of prednisolone.(10 mg for 6 days) The problem is that apparently (and it's not the first time) my shortness of breath is increasing; not considerably but noticeably; Now I don't know if it depends

I am done. I am also done tappering
I'm completely fed up with this disease! I can't reduce my prednisolone dosage below 10 mg, and I barely manage to maintain that level. Even methotrexate (MTX) doesn't fully address the problem, although it does provide some relief. My rheumatologist suggests that I most likely have no adrenal function

Nintedanib
I've recently started to take nintedanib for my fibrosis which I have in both lungs, I've had hypersensitive pneumonitis for some years now (I'm 70) and also take prednisolone but I'm struggling with nausea and diarrhea and would like to know if this improves after a few weeks/months. The side effects

Confused about when to taper in relation to symptoms
I was impressed with the initial response to 15 mgm prednisolone which eased my symptoms within 3 days. The response was about 70% improvement in the pain in the arms/ shoulders (the right arm much better than the left) and 95% improvement in the thighs and buttocks. My GP encouraged a taper to 12.5

Good bye and good luck to you all !
I am leaving PMRGCA uk and this group sadly I have to deal with terminal lung cancer that has moved into the bones. The NHS cannot cure only seek containment. I now have a major daily drug intake including dexamethasone (which replaces the parked 5mg maintenance prednisolone!) As I say goodbye I want

Prednisolone - new member
my hubby never thought he’d be joining our Pred “gang”, but a trip to A&E yesterday (7 hours!!) showed that he’d either a bronchial reaction to the tamsulosin he was taking for his prostate, or he’s got a viral infection. He’s been prescribed 30mg for 10 days, which the doctor said would sort out either

Prednisolone and surgery
Hi everyone, I've been reading all the recent posts about problems reducing prednisolone with interest. When I was diagnosed in September 2023 (non cranial GCA) I naively expected my steroid reducing timetable, given to me on discharge, would be exactly as it was on the sheet. I'm now down to 8mg per

Struggling to reduce, despite slow descent
Hi everyone, I will try to keep this brief but also hope I give sufficient information. I am feeling pretty despondent about where I am going though I know the steroids are valuable and my only option to make life manageable. I developed PMR symptoms in March/April 2022 and was given the diagnosis

Suffering with GCA
Welcome I hope you are fine I have not yet undergone a biopsy or any other examination, but I started taking prednisolone 60 mg and there was a change in the nature of the pain, it became somewhat controlled. Then I reduced the dose to 40 mg, and after a few days I had a relapse and the violent headache

Phased return
I really appreciate all the support I received from this group recently. Next week will be the last week before I meet with my boss and hr. I've accepted its time for a change and I'm trying not to fear that change. I am currently on 12 mg of prednisolone due to suspected GCA. I've recently been suffering

Addissons disease
Good afternoon. I was diagnosed with Adison's disease in 2022. Prescribed Prednisolone 5 mg. Now I take hydrocortisone tablets 20 mg per day. Fludrocortisone 0.1 mg. Once a year there is an Adrinal crisis, I end up in intensive care... Constant weakness, no vitality, I sleep a lot... I am only 43
