Addissons disease

Good afternoon. I was diagnosed with Adison's disease in 2022. Prescribed Prednisolone 5 mg. Now I take hydrocortisone tablets 20 mg per day. Fludrocortisone 0.1 mg. Once a year there is an Adrinal crisis, I end up in intensive care... Constant weakness, no vitality, I sleep a lot... I am only 43 years old. I'm from Ukraine...It's difficult to get competent advice from a specialist.

I would be glad for reasonable advice

This forum is for people who have Polymyalgia Rheumatica and, or Giant Cell Arteritis. We take the steroid Prednisalone, sometimes for years and this can cause problems with our Adrenal System when we are well enough to come off Pred. I don’t remember anyone actually having Addison’s Disease, I may be wrong.

Do you have PMR or GCA?

We all have these diseases or we have had them. The advisors too.

If not you may not find the kind of advice you need and would do better on a forum dedicated to Addison’s.

Health Unlocked may have one, I would try a google search.

If you do have PMR/GCA, can you be more specific about the kind of advice you want?

The more information you can give, the better advice you will get.

I see you have found google translate, this may help you to give more detail.

Best wishes. X

Although we are in danger only of secondary Addisons, when we reduce our prednisolone dose too quickly, the feelings we have of utter exhaustion - we call it the deathly fatigue - are very similar. I don't think anyone has found a solution except to rest A LOT and avoid stress where possible. Obviously this is very difficult for you. For most of us, we just have to keep on hoping that one day it will improve by itself.

My friend has primary Addisons and is always exhausted and was going to hospital with a crisis every few weeks, partly because she didn't always take her medication. Now, however, her living circumstances have changed and she has far fewer crises. So maybe, when your life gets easier you will find your symptoms improve. I do hope so. Best wishes, and слава україні!

Sorry to hear it. JFK had Addison's disease. I think it is a disease you can live with but you have to manage. Also I think you need a different group on Health Unlocked. Good luck.
