Lately I had some breathing problems so on the nurse's advice I took a (low) dose of prednisolone.(10 mg for 6 days)
The problem is that apparently (and it's not the first time) my shortness of breath is increasing; not considerably but noticeably; Now I don't know if it depends on the fact that I only have one lung or other factors.
I would appreciate opinions from those who experience the same effects
Thank you

Hi pasquino, I am exactly the same as you , one lung and slowly but surely breathing is getting worse. I have had prednisolone.(10 mg for 6 days) but it doesnt seem to pick me up for as long as it used to. My doctor is reluctant to keep giving me steroids. She said m if I keep getting worse she will prescribe a differentn antibiotic.
Yes you and your team do a fantastic job of promoting and helping people to stop smoking. I am not sure if I got copd late in 2010. A factory I worked at was closing down and I got the job of burning boxes of old paperwork and invoices that were no longer needed. Unfortunately because of chemicals being on site restricted the size of the receptacle we could use and sometimes there was a fair bit of smoke. Brian
Hmm , - my Consultant has prescribed me 7.5 mg Prednisolone for the last TWELVE YEARS ! - every day for COPD / EMPHYSEMIA . many Doctors it seems can't agree about these drugs ... and we're " Piggy in the middle " !! ........ I just pop them in my mouth and hope for the best !!.... carry on jillygirl .. good luck ! ..
Yes I was on the steroids all through my cancer , and about 2 years after that. Then all of a sudden they decided to stop them unless I went to the surgery everytime I thought I needed them. They seem to have puges on certain medications.
Yet as soon as I go see the docs the first thingthey do is give me steroids. It would be a lot easier if they were back on repeat prescriptions.
shortness of breath is caused by numerous different things, having one lung to start with, I asked my consultant this question and he said, you have Aspergillosis, emphysema, leaky heart valve, historic lung scarring, and your age factors in, any one of these will cause shortness of breath. For me it’s now normal to be short of breath and I have had to adapt accordingly
