INSECT BITE OVERREACTION Could this trigger lupus or lupus like reaction?
I felt rotten for a couple of days. Then woke up the third day with a really big blistery looking bite on my right thumb. It looked really inflamed and had a sort of paler ring around it and around that there was a rectangle of inflammation spread round thumb and to the base. As the day wore on,more

aortic valve stenosis
In 2022 I had a hip replacement following covid infection as it affected the synovial hip fluid and was then alerted to the fact that there was a problem with my aortic valve. I need to have aortic valve replacement and am currently on the waiting list. In my first consultation the cardiologist said

Newbie here :)
Hi all, I've been using this site for a couple of months now so I thought it was time to introduce myself š. I first realised that my symptoms were a bit more than 'getting older' in May this year. My RA diagnosis and treatment has been delayed, firstly by having to wait 2 months for an ultrasound

First of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is Roy and I am 78 and although I am English I now live in Adelaide, Australia.. Up until the last year or two I have had a good health run ( I realise how lucky I am ) until the dreaded PMR struck. After diagnosing myself, thanks to Dr Google, and

heart attack and stent fitted and never saw it coming
hi - I had a heart attack and stent fitted last week. The NHS hospital experience was excellent but I have so many questions and paranoid it might happen again and I might not be so lucky next time. The hospital said they would offer me a rehab programme and therapy but not sure when that offer will

Long term Effects of radiation
I had salvage radiation in 2014 after failed RP surgery in 2013 at age 69 for Gleason 9 PCa. Iāve also had radiation of pelvic lymph nodes in 2015 , right femur in 2017, and a rib and clavicle in 2018. A few years ago incontinence developed. I tried clamp, sling and AUS. The latter caused sepsis

Dissected Aorta Type A
Hello, my father is a 78 year old man who has recently been diagnosed with a dissected aorta type A. He had quadruple heart bypass 11 years ago. In October 2023 he stopped taking his Furosemide- a stupid thing to do as it started off a rollercoaster of health problems, now resulting in this diagnosis

Hip replacement.
I have surgery booked for my right hip booked for 1st March. I'm having a dual mobility prosthesis as I have had lumbar surgery and I also have scoliosis and so am at greater risk of dislocation. Has anyone else had this, and did you have spinal or general anaesthetic when you have spinal problems.

What should I do - follow-ups not feeling thorough
Hi everyone, before I start my question I want to send out love to everyone on here and I really wish being well for everyone. I wish there wasnāt a load of experts on here because it means we are all in this. I was diagnosed in 2022 - they thought they would find ovarian but they were surprised to

The dark curtain
Well I'm here in Addenbrookes Hospital. My asthma turned out to be Aortic valve trouble. Currently a human pin cushion awaiting my golden ticket to "Royal Papworth". I'm keen to not be labeled by this and live a different but better life after I pass through the dark curtain of surgery. I'm trying

It's been eight months since I found out I will need a transplant
I made a post about eight months ago titled, "Just found out I need a kidney transplant" soon after I got the news. I was mostly worried at the time about whether my mom would be able to be my donor and who would take care of me/us after the surgery. I can now report, my mom cannot be my donor, and I

Out of town prostatectomy
For those that have had a prostatectomy out of state, who did most of the follow-up? Did you have a local urologist too? I suspect a local urologist would be hesitant to follow up on a patient whom had his surgery done by someone else.

i have damaged my right hip favoring my left āParkinsonāsā side. I have a labral tear and a cyst in addition to a rough and worn bone structure. I see a hip specialist in a couple weeks and will likely have surgery. Who here has had hip surgery on your āgoodā side?

Advice on Cataract surgery / narrow angle
Hi all, First I must apologise, I am new to Glaucoma and looking to get some guidance from ideally someone who may have had a similar experience. I am a 44 year old male who was diagnosed with narrow angles following a routine eye exam. My eyesight is pretty good and I only wear reading glasses occasionally
