i have damaged my right hip favoring my left “Parkinson’s” side. I have a labral tear and a cyst in addition to a rough and worn bone structure. I see a hip specialist in a couple weeks and will likely have surgery. Who here has had hip surgery on your “good” side?

hip surgery
I've had hip replacements on both sides - before being diagnosed with PD - although looking back, I've had symptoms for many years. Funnily enough, my good side was perfect - and still is. On my bad side I've had a lot of groin pain - and nobody can work out why. It's still much better than it was before the surgery. I think it might have been because I went too hard at the post surgery exercises - but there's no evidence of that. I hope all goes well for you.
Hi Manypony. I had hip surgery two years ago on my good side. It was the very best decision I made and goodness knows I like to avoid general anesthesia at all cost. It was a revision as the initial replacement was coming loose. I am able to walk pain free. I hope your surgery goes well.
I need to lay off this web site. Every post complaining about a symptom makes me think I have that symptom.
I have an ache in my left hip. I have PD with a tremor in my left hand. When the doc had me bouncing my left leg off the floor he says there's weakness on my left side, either knee or hip. I take Tylenol and the ache fades for a few hours.
Thirty years ago I developed left side peroneal nerve entrapment. While running, I'd lose the ability to lift my toes on the left side. For years I'd trip while running. I researched 'Foot drop' and found "Peroneal Nerve Entrapment" and I had the same symptoms, that is after running for 20 minutes I'd develop Foot Drop. I studied acupuncture and asked the instructor about my foot drop and he had me sit and lay my left leg on a bench. He stuck needles in my left leg from ankle to knee. And for a few days I'd be back to running without tripping. But the problem always came back.
I talked a surgeon into having an exploratory on my knee. He found 90% deterioration of my left peroneal nerve. He cut out the part of the muscle that was pressing against the nerve. With time most of the nerve function came back. But I still trip if I'm not careful; Kind of embarrassing when I trip on the treadmill.
So did I have PD thirty years ago? Was foot drop my first symptom of PD?
