Virtual 5k done
After a week of not running I was back out this morning for a 5k. It felt great at first but I was seriously flagging towards the end. It’s beautifully sunny but cold, most of me was sweating but I did get cold hands.

Flu vaccine
Hi, I experienced a PMR flare about a month after getting my flu vaccine in 2018. I mentioned it to my Rheumatologist and he did not think it was connected. I wonder if it was connected. Does anyone on this site feel that there is a connection?

Are flu vaccines different around the world?
Are flu vaccines different around the world? In sense - are they made to work against the same strain of viruses? Or, perhaps - each region (i.e. Europe, Asia) expects a different virus strain and someone vaccinated against flu in Asia will not have much protection from that vaccine after traveling to

Covid pneumonia. Whose loved one has recovered and come off ventilator?
My mom has been on ventilator for 15 days now. Her x rays were really bad 1 week ago and then suddenly she improved slightly. Her doctor says not a lot though. Since then she’s kinda been the same. No improvement for about 1 week. Her oxygen saturation is good. Although her ventilator oxygen is high

Resuming Actemra... but now foot and leg pain. Any thoughts?
I had to stop Actemra for a month because of illness and have had a rough time resuming the injections. The first two injections brought headaches, nausea, flu-like symptoms, fatigue and a runny nose for 2 days ...memories of the symptoms I had experienced when I first started Actemra last November.

Pneumonia Booster
Has anyone had a problem getting their pneumonia booster ? My consultant has recommended to GP but it was refused. I am 3 years into remission after 4 sessions of Rituximab and Bendamustine Chemo. Apparently I don’t meet my Health Centres criteria. !

To test for COVID or not
My son had an asthma attack at school today. He has cough variant asthma so his attacks present as a “continuous cough”. His cough stopped when they finally gave him his inhaler (half an hour later). School wants us to take him for a COVID test Or they won’t let him return. GP surgery have said he doesn

Flu Jab
What does everyone think about having a flu jab. If I take any sort of medicine it causes me problems so I am worried about having this and what effect it might have.

Study provides insight on how to build a better flu vaccine.
Flu season comes around like clockwork every year, and sooner or later everyone gets infected. The annual flu shot is a key part of public health efforts to control the flu, but the vaccine’s effectiveness is notoriously poor, falling somewhere from 40% to 60% in a typical year. A growing body of evidence

Flu jab
Many thanks for all the helpful replies, I'm resolved to have the flu jab this year as I'll never know if the jab triggered PMR and anyway I'm more at risk now especially this winter.

Newish here but loving it! ET + JAK 2 + asprin only
So thank to everyone for their time and insights and tips and knowledge. Just wondering if this rings a bell with any one as an ET symptom? I have temperature ranges with feeling cold, once I get cold it is hardish to get warm again and extra layers don't help. My feet and arms suffer particularly with

Should I have the flu jab
I'm 63 and new to this group. I contracted PMR 2 years ago, a few days after having the flu jab. My doctor agrees that the flu jab may have triggered PMR but there is little evidence to confirm this and his advice is to have the jab again this Autumn (I didn't have it last year) as my immune system is

Cystitis symptoms after surgery
Has anyone suffered cystitis symptoms or actual cystitis after laparoscopy? I had mine yesterday and the cystitis symptoms are getting even worse! I’m worried I might have contracted it when I had a catheter put in and out during surgery? Any advice? Thanks

Not my finest...
First cold run, and it reminded me with a bang that I have asthma. Only managed to run for 25 minutes as a full blown attack was threatening and after gasping hopefully at my inhaler I realised that in a moment of stultifying stupidity I'd brought an empty one. Not good. I'm not going to call it a fail
