Howdy everyone! That's how we greet each other in the great state of Nebraska! I have a question concerning yeast infections. I get many bladder infections, and the doctor cultures the urine each time which, Does shows klebsiella pneumoniae. Iam put on antibiotics, and within a weeks time I get a severe yeast infection. The only medication which works is diflucan150mg. Can you take diflucan if you are on Imbruvica 420mg too? Does anyone else have this problem, and what do you take for it. Thank-you for your help.

Hi Vintagemama,

-

Your doctor and pharmacist (especially the specialty pharmacy that ships Ibrutinib to you: Avella, Biologics, Diplomat or ONCO360) should always be consulted with your questions like this one.

-

webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-3774...

Diflucan GENERIC NAME(S): Fluconazole

-

Here is the drug interaction results from ; drugs.com/interactions-chec...

-

fluconazole + ibrutinib

Interactions between your drugs Major Applies to: fluconazole, ibrutinib

Talk to your doctor before using ibrutinib together with fluconazole. Combining these medications may significantly increase the blood levels of ibrutinib. This may increase the risk of side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, hemorrhage, kidney problems, and impaired bone marrow function resulting in low numbers of different types of blood cells. You may also be more likely to develop anemia, bleeding problems, or infections due to low blood cell counts. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. You should contact your doctor if you develop paleness, fatigue, dizziness, fainting, unusual bruising or bleeding, fever, chills, diarrhea, sore throat, muscle aches, shortness of breath, blood in phlegm, weight loss, red or inflamed skin, body sores, and pain or burning during urination. Also seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs and symptoms that may suggest kidney damage such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, increased or decreased urination, sudden weight gain or weight loss, fluid retention, swelling, shortness of breath, muscle cramps, tiredness, weakness, dizziness, confusion, and irregular heart rhythm. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Have you considered a consultation (telephone might be arranged) with the one Nebraskan listed here: cllsociety.org/toolbox/cll-...

She is a hematology specialist in lymphomas, including CLL/SLL. Her name is Julie M. Vose and here is her website information:

nebraskamed.com/doctors/jul...

I would venture to say she has more experience with CLL/SLL patients and medications because of her position. It would follow that she may have more experience with treating such intensive infections as you are experiencing.

I do hope you will venture to call her office and inquire about a time to talk with her--you might even get a digital face-to-face if you will mention CLLSociety as the source of your knowing about her.

Drs. across states work together, so if your present Dr. is interested he might make the connection for you for a consult.

best wishes, this infection needs to be nipped in the bud soon. It has to be wearing on you and you need relief.

I was not allowed to take it due to major interactions with Imbruvica.

All good suggestions here. I am also in Nebraska and see Dr. Vose in UNMC in Omaha. Don't actually "see" her often as I live in the middle of the state, but she consults with my local oncologist, in particular when things go wrong.

When I was on Venetoclax (and prior to that, Imbruvica) I would always give the providing specialty pharmacy a call & check with their pharmacist whenever I given a new prescription for anything, just in case - they are very good sources of information.

Hi there. I just got over a double UTI (two bacteria) and a three week ordeal. Three antibiotics to get rid of it. I take a probiotic each day and during my siege was eating yogurt each day for more protection. When on an antibiotic it kills the good bacteria along with the infection your trying to get rid of. Try my approach and see if it works. My best. Carole
