6 month transplant anniversary!!! Whoo hoo
And my hyperparathyroid condition, which predates the transplant, is still hanging around as well; although, my
calcium
and phosphorous levels remain in the normal range. There is a surgery that can be done to resolve this issue permanently if needed.

Calcium and Vitamin D
The
calcium
+ Vit D tablets prescribed by GP either upset my stomach (dissolvable) or non dissolvable ( chewable ! ) aggravate my gums. Can anyone please recommend alternatives that aren't hugely difficult to swallow ? Also what mg is recommended.

Improved my bone density!
I just read in Finland they descovered it helps with bone loss by helping you to absorb your
calcium
. Im not sure what things worked but im going to continue on my path and hopefully things keep going in the right direction.

Will get more blood tests in a fortnight with extra to check on vitD/
calcium
levels and be seen again in a month to reassess. Meantime a Dexascan will be arranged to set baseline for bone density and check for needs for bone protective meds - no bad thing at my age.

Advice about plan of treatment
But I had a further consult with a different GP today and his plan is for further blood tests in 10 days to see what inflammatory markers are doing and if they are going down, to decrease Prednisolone to 10mg daily and thereafter decrease 1mg every few weeks but also to start

Progress - I think ....
No blockages & 0
calcium
so nothing to be alarmed about on that score. No further action required except to stop beta blockers. So where does that leave me & my persistent angina and cyclical A&E visits? Firstly a big thank you to everyone who posts on this site.

Calcium supplements - are they essential for PMR
This gives me
calcium
intake of 3000 mg daily and 5000 iu Vitamin D. He is happy with my vitamin D3 intake but has told me that I don’t need to take the Evercal D3 tablets anymore as I don’t need the extra
calcium
.

Hearing loss
I have to be sure to take D3
calcium
K2 for my bones/lack of parathyroids. I am wondering if it is a lack of any supplement, or any particular one that could cause this problem. Any thoughts please?

Am I getting enough calcium and should I take a supplement
Doctors have never mentioned I have a lack of
calcium
. I’ve bought a triple supplement that covers
calcium
, K2 and D vitamins. I have yet to start taking. If you have too much
calcium
it’s also not good. Have we caused our osteoporosis by not getting enough
calcium
for many years.
