Clear cell cancer - surgery only?
Hi everyone. I am new here. Would be grateful to hear anyone who has had surgery only for clear cell ovarian cancer. I had surgery in March and was diagnosed stage 3B, but oncologist advised chemo not proven to be effective and with added issues with COVID I opted not to have chemo. Unfortunately recurred

New to asthma - Rocket launcher approach?
Hi all, I’m newly diagnosed (peak flow meter that I used and submitted data). Had my first asthma appointment over the phone yesterday. I’m 29 and have never been diagnosed before now/ felt that I struggle to breathe. The only thing is when I run in the cold my throat completely closes up and I’m

I've been experiencing a pretty bad flare-up for the last few days but I genuinely don't know if it's just my asthma or something else. I'm a waitress so I constantly have

My Mom said I only faked and Asthma is not a real illness.
Can you fake asthma. When I was a kid my mother who was a heavy smoker accused me of faking severe asthma, and I suffered so terribly. I know there were occasions when she very reluctantly brought me to the hospital and I remember being in a oxygen tent .That was the only times I was treated and

IBS - really diverticulitis?
I used to have IBS - for around 13 years - then had perforated bowel and stoma fitted 6 months ish ago - this was sudden and life threatening -for those with these kinds of issues for years advice from me would be to get a ct scan to find out if you have diverticulitis - that's what must have caused

Boring Asthma Post
So, its been a little while since have posted, but for those of you that follow me, you will know I've really been struggling with my asthma of late. The last month of C25K was a constant battle of getting up earlier and earlier in the morning to try and beat the pollen, and having to take more and more

Living with severe asthma
Hi everyone I was diagnosed with severe asthma a few years ago (had asthma since I was a toddler, now in my mid 30s), had to give up work and been living with my parents on the ESA support element of Universal Credit. I was thinking about going back to work before my latest downturn in my asthma, maybe

Asthma does not seem to increase the severity of COVID-19
Asthma does not appear to increase the risk for a person contracting COVID-19 or influence its severity, according to a team of Rutgers researchers. "Older age and conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes and obesity are reported risk factors

Itchy chin when coughing?
I’m currently being investigated for Asthma and have been put on Salbutamol which seems to help relieve symptoms. I’m not sure if this is related (but I’d heard through the grape vine) that an itchy chin when coughing can be linked to asthma? It’s the weirdest sensation... All very new to this!

I think my new antidepressant is making my asthma worse
I started taking escitalopram 5mg last Saturday to help treat anxiety. It has worked remarkably well so far. But I’ve noticed my chest becoming progressively worse this week, with my peak flow being at 375/350 and I can’t get it to budge. Normally it’s 400/410. I read that serotonin can cause bronchoconstriction

Asthma after Covid
Interested to know if anyone is in my position.... I think I may have had Covid in March despite only having had the one typical symptom (a high temperature but not 37.8c high) I did have a mucus cough and tight chest but not the dry cough. Saw the GP and it was treated as an asthma attack and was given

What I wish I had known (and what I have learnt through trial and error!)
Hi everyone Another repost from a couple years ago (and bought it up 8 months ago too apparently) so apologies if you’ve already read it 😉😂. But it’s another thing that those new to asthma may find helpful, and if anyone has anything they want to add just tag in! (I think this is the last for a while

Symbicort 100/6 for COPD?
Hi. I've just been prescribed this inhaler in place of Fostair. I was diagnosed with COPD in 2010 after initial confusion as to whether I had Asthma. The tests confirmed COPD not Asthma. Reading the package leaflet it tells me this inhaler is SPECIFICALLY for Asthma! It doesn't even mention COPD! In

What I wish I had asked my GP/asthma nurse (when first diagnosed 😉)
Hi everyone This is a repost of one of my posts from over 2 years ago 😱😱😂, but I thought it would be useful to update it, and repost it to anyone new to the forum and to asthma in general! A few years ago I read an article about shared appts with GPs ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45770998 ), and
