Hi nice to meet you. I too have had copd for 12 years. Fortunately mine is only progressing very slowly so I started off as mild but think I am probably moderate now.

Mine started off moderate, at one point they thought I had cancer of the lung as well, was just the shadow getting bigger, thankfully. Nice to meet you as well.

Thank goodness it wasn't lung cancer! I would take copd over that any day.

We are all very friendly and supportive on here and we very rarely bite 😀 so just jump in and join in. Stay safe and well.

Hi, Pilgrim, and welcome. I was diagnosed with moderate COPD and mild asthma in 2015. I run a singing for lung health group and increased my exercise over the last five years, and improved my diagnosis to the low end of normal. I still take serevent, ventolin when I need it, and avoid triggers like smoke and strong perfumes.

Thank you, that’s a dream idea well done on the group, I keep away from sprays as much as I can and use roll on myself. As for smoke, that is a no go now days.

Hi pilgrim87 welcome. I too have COPD diagnosis 2019 but have had it for 6 or 7 years realistically. Classed as Moderate. So new to the condition. On ventolin only at the moment but struggling breathing. Got the nurse ringing today. ⏱🧼

Hi Timepiece, I have only been on the trimbow for nearly a year now, find it helps with my COPD. Good luck with the nurse.

Hello there, welcome to the site. Like yourself its around 12 years for myself too and was at first suspected of having cancer. My COPD/Asthma is still much the same but think it might be moderate now or it could just be this high pollen in the air. Enjoy your day

Pilgrim87 in reply to katieoxo60

Hi, they suspected mine could of been cancer only a few years back, as the white stuff in my lungs had grown in the space of a 12 month. They didn’t tell me for a 12 month as they wanted to be sure one way or another.

I spent two years being checked before the COPD diagnosis was finally confirmed and cancer ruled out. Have a nice night speak again soon

Pilgrim87 profile image
Pilgrim87 in reply to katieoxo60

Ok, they confirmed it quite quick with me, it wasn’t until much later they had the cancer worry. I have just been for a walk, a meditation and a grounding. Will do take care

Hi pilgrim87 just an update nurse phoned. After a year of being diagnosed have had confirmation at last that I have overlapping Asthma/COPD and I am at the moderate stage. I thought I was but just hearing someone say it out loud is upsetting. The nurse and doctor have now decided to put me on fostair not quiet sure how I’m feeling at this moment. ⏱🧼

Hi Timepiece, by the sounds of things you are a bit like me, I have been told I gave moderate COPD with mild asthma. I understand your feeling right now, just remember there is plenty of support out there, I have also found telling someone you are not feeling well today and finding it hard to breathe, they will often help you. Keep you chin up, the way I look at it is that I have to live with it.

Hi Timepiece, re the Fostair, I've found it utterly brilliant for last 3 years and am delighted that I rarely need ventolin for my asthma. There's actally a booklet that should be given to all users, ask your pharmacist for it.

Pilgrim87, welcome to the British Lung Foundation Forum. There's loads of information that the BLF supply for most long diseases.

Lots of kind people here to support anyone & everyone. P

Thanks for your reply. Yes we just have to get on with it I suppose. Will be good if I get to breath a bit easier. The nurse did ask what was my weight now. I told her she said you have put on a stone and half since last year. I know I have put on weight this is the heaviest I have been in years. God the shame of it ha ha. Got myself a reebok I walk treadmill last week. Need to shed some weight. As a 59 year old female. Want to look and feel better fo 60 next year ⏱🧼

It is one of those illness that I have over time just learned to get on with, at least you are doing something about your weight, now I am on my own again, I am hoping when restrictions allow to go down the gym and start again, I need to lose a good 2 stone, I would love to feel and look better. In the future, also with a bit more positive energy. Am here if you want to chat.

Thank you for your reply. I Need to do way more exercise. It’s a bad cycle. . you cannot breath so it is difficult. I need to loose at least 3 stone it’s going to need a big effort. It will be slow going but will get it done. Stay well stay safe⏱🧼
