SPPORT trial: whole pelvic salvage radiation + short-term ADT after failed surgery can be a curative option
In contrast to a previous trial (RTOG 9601) that told us that ADT can be safely avoided if PSA<0.7, this trial suggests at least 4 months of ADT and whole pelvic treatment. The reason for the difference in recommendations is due to the choice of endpoint. SPPORT is telling us that if we are willing to

Once Hopeful Prostate Cancer Drug Fails Phase II Test
Does anyone have a list of the drugs that were fast tracked for PCa? Might be a good place to look for trials. "RV001 is an immuno-oncologic drug that presents to the immune system as an antigen. It works by stimulating the T-cells to spot and destroy cells that carry the RhoC protein, which is over-expressed

On Wednesday, my pwp was given a Botox A injection into his urethra to stop spastic urine out put. Has anyone received this treatment? If this doesn’t work out, doctor is recommending implanting catheter in his navel which will collect urine and the port changed out monthly by a nurse.

Rollercoaster 🎢 again!
Had my 1st meeting about starting chemo today so was happy to get a step closer! The oncologist told me that I'm still stage 3a hgs but they had read in 1 letter that a lymph was flagged up next to my heart!! 1st I've heard this as I'd had womb biopsy cervix and guided ct on lymph plus ct scan 6weeks

Should magnesium carbonate be avoided in thyroid disease …
… even though it’s widely recommended for gently relieving constipation, which many of us, including me lately, suffer from? It’s also commonly used as a neutraliser for acidic stomach conditions but lots of us have problems making enough stomach acid which is a contributory factor in constipation,

Gait issue and nerve compression
To all of you struggling with gate, see a neurologist if you haven't already. I had an ataxia gait and it was pretty bad. An MRI showed an arachnoid cyst in my spine from T1 to T10 that was compressing my spinal cord and thus the nerves, causing the issue. After removal I could walk a bit better and

Recovering from a traumatic brain injury.
Hi all. I am currently 9 months into recovering from a massive brain trauma and have good days and bad but more worrying is that I am so intolerant and snappy at home with the people who have been there the most for me and look at a lot of things so negative rather than positive. I say to my self right

New Trial: A Study of CF33-hNIS (VAXINIA), an Oncolytic Virus, as Monotherapy or in Combination With Pembrolizumab in Adults With MAST
As most here know, Immunotherapies have not so far proven to be especially effective in PCa. Here is info on a new viral agent that, while not targeting PCa specifically, is starting clinical trials focused on "Metastatic or Advanced Solid Tumours (MAST)". With 100 participants, it will hopefully

Mischley's diet and raw dairy?
Hi everyone! Have any of you been following Dr Laurie Mischley's diet recommendations, which include as the number 1 thing to do, to eliminate dairy? Has this helped you? I am wondering if it's not the dairy itself but what the cows are fed, other practices and how the milk is processed in conventional

***Six months scans are back ***
Good morning my Brother, I got my six month scans back and all in all I'm very pleased with the results. CT scan shows no progression to any vital organs, or soft tissue. There has been no change from last scan six months ago. Bone scan shows very slight uptake to one met ,all other mets are stable

Leukapheresis completed
I got my leukapheresis yesterday for the CAER-T trial at City of Hope. It should be about 4 weeks until they infuse the modified cells. Next steps are bone and marrow biopsies to characterize the cancer prior to treatment, chemotherapy to deplete my T cells and macrophages then infusing the modified

Bladder pain
I had bladder pain and frequency and went to a specialist as my GP did not want to prescribe more antibiotics and the labtest showed no infection. (I had had some a month or so before). In less than 10 minutes the specialist decided I had a persistent infection but also thought an alternative to antibiotics

Mixed news for flavonoids.
New meta-analysis below [1]. The flavonoid family (Anthocyanidins, Anthoxanthins, Flavanones, Flavanonols, Flavans, & Isoflavonoids) include members that have hormone-like properties. "This meta-analysis was aimed to explore the association between flavonoids intake and {hormone-related cancer} HRC

Midgut malrotation
I had HIDA scan done for my gallbladder. In addition to the findings for gallbladder, report noted “midgut malrotation”. Doctor has asked for Ct scan to confirm. From what I have read online it sounds scary. It’s very rare in adult. Can anyone provide some insight on this?
