"I had a routine medical last month, which I was sure would be OK. But the blood test results showed that I have chronic kidney disease, stage 3a. I'm 60. Will I eventually need to have dialysis and a kidney transplant? Do I need treatment to prevent my kidneys deteriorating further? I have never had

Difficulty dealing with Heart problems and related issues
I am new here. However have had a heart problem since 2013. I was told I had cardiomyopathy and after 2 weeks in hospital had an ICD fitted. I went home he day after my operation. I struggled to come to terms with what had happened (only being 44 at that time). The following year 2014 I was diginosed

Getting Listed on the Lung Transplant List
After almost one and a half years of referrals, tests, minor operations and consultations with surgeons I can confirm that I have now been finally listed to go on the list for a Double Lung Transplant at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester, UK. A new chapter of hope begins. I would like to say a huge

Stem Cell Transplants
https://mpnforum.com/nicrev Hope this link works. Interesting interview about Stem Cell Transplant risk:reward and timing. I thought quite reassuring, especially since odds improving all the time. Five year survival rates are based on transplants pre 2013. The odds and risks should be even better by

Hi all 😊
I wanted to see if anyone on here has ever been diagnosed with fatty liver? I got diagnosed with pcos when I was 33 after a few years of testing... Even though I had all the obvious signs, anyway 2 years after I was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis, my gyno was convinced it was through the fatty liver

PBC and Life Expectancy
I read with interest the previous thread with a similar title and so I decided to start a separate thread. I have much to say on this topic that might be helpful to patients, new and old, and for it to be lost in the body of another thread might limit its reach. Where to begin... I have lived knowingly

Hello from Canada My question is: I have 26% lung capacity (I quit smoking for several months and I;m so depressed I find myself cheating here and there), I'm done with. My question is my son went to his doctor to see if he could give me a lung doctor said absolutely not, that high risk of rejection

Waking after neurotoxicity
My dad suffered from neurotoxicity, pneumonia, and a fungal infection after Stem Cell Transplant. He had a unexpected and terrible reaction to anti-rejection medications and has been in a coma/ICU for 6 weeks. He recently emerged from coma is very weak and is still not able to speak or utter any sound

Iron injection????
Hello, I'm JAK2+ with ET for 16 years. Had two liver transplants following clotting episodes. Currently I'm in hospital and my hepatologist has prescribed an iron injection as I've anemia, low white and low white cell counts. My haematologist is away so I'm hugely concerned about this decision! Is this

FIVE SURPRISING WAYS YOU COULD BE DAMAGING YOUR KIDNEYS
Once we get told about having CKD our first reaction is often, "WHY?" If we know we have Diabetes and/or High Blood Pressure that somewhat mitigates the reason. However, there are many of us who if we find out that we are prone to getting CKD we could take action to stop or slow it down. It takes

Lung transplant
Hi, it's been 3 weeks since my transplant and I've been given a miracle. I have even been home for the weekend although I was in pain a lot of the time, it was controllable but I was ready to come back to the hospital yesterday, I feel safe here. I am recovering really quickly wich I feel scary but puts

Interesting Question for the Psychiatrists and Geneticists Out There
I have always wanted to ask these two closely related questions; especially since my Psychiatrist told me that he had never heard of any situation even remotely close to mine and/or of any studies related at all to it. I am now a 54-year-old man with ADD. My symptoms are mainly "tactile" and "attention

Sleep and not knowing where you are?.
My parents been away for last 10 days and got back Saturday afternoon so they already been here one night. Went to bed last night and at 2AM this morning my dad woke me up going to toilet as my bed room is opposite the toilet so noise wakes me regular when there here. This morning I thought what that
