Is there a happy ending for AF?
Hi, I came across this forum this morning and what a relief to know I'm not the only one. I'm 59 and I've been in AF Tachycardia for a year. In this time I've had 4 Cardioversions and 2 Ablations, none of them successful till last Friday with my latest Cardioversion. I've been on Warfarin and Atenolol

High T3 levels
Im sorry if Im going on about this but I have had some further advice from the blood testing department who do say that atenolol definitely blocks the absorbtion of T3 or the conversion of T4 to T3. However as I only take T3 Im now thinking that the high T3 level is because its just sitting there and

T3 too high - help with results please?
this post could be confusing. Please read but basically I am asking the following: T3 is high....am I taking too much T3 or is the atenolol affecting it. Hashimotos Thyroiditis ....what is that and why has it never been picked up by the GP who said there were no antibody issues. T4 is low....am I right

Wandering atrial pacemaker, etc
Results from 24 ecg said I have lots of svts, constant ectopic beats and a wandering atrial pacemaker. But that was info over the phone so need to find out implications if I can get to see my doctor within next few weeks. He did not sound unduly concerned, but then he wouldn't, would he? Half an atenolol

Swapping medication timing
My AF is now persistent , punctuated by being woken early hours on other occasions with my "bad AF" which I'm calling palpitations and which debilitate me for a few hours. Can't drive or do much until it reverts to my "normal" AF (fast, irregular, 80-odd BPM - and I can cope with that!) I take my medication

I have just been diagnosed at this level. I have been told to stop taking the 2000 grams if metformin a day I am on. My last glucose reading was 50 for my diabetes. I have to have another kidney function blood test in a week's time and I am concerned about the control of my diabetes between now and

Erratic heartbeat
My heart rate is all over the place. From 65 to 90 to 75 in a couple of minutes without moving a muscle. It seems faster and more irregular when I am resting. I am waiting for the 24 ECG. I can walk up hills, no problem then I sit down and it's everywhere. Also have bad reflux at momen. Just had half

Hasty again!
Hello Folks! Been feeling increasingly breathless this week, and tightness in chest, as well as lethargic. Then last evening went into A-fib again - enough to feel quite unwell but not my "bad" ("full") sort where I'm almost crawling along the floor. Didn't sleep well, felt short of breath. So went

BP and heart rate
Investigated last year, nothing really discovered but prescribed atenolol which works too well. On Friday was not feeling great so I took my BP and was 153/95. Pulse 90 something. During evening climbed as high as 172/110 pulse 98. Phoned doctor who told me not to worry but come in Monday. Took 2x2mg

First iloprost infusion
Hello, I have Raynauds and a tentative diagnosis of limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis. I could not tolerate nifedipine; I can tolerate losartan potassium but it does not seem to offer any symptom relief. My rheumatologist has now arranged for me to have iloprost. I am having my first iloprost infusion

Atenolol and T3
I have slight hypertension and have had this for several years and managed to stay away from blood pressure medication. I am also hypothyroid and after unsuccessful use of levothyroxine I finally found my "God" doctor and take T3 only now. I am practically normal apart from ability to lose weight.

Beta blockers and blood sugar
Many diabetics are also hypertensives. They are prescribed apart from hypoglycemics (for controlling high blood sugar ), medicines to lower blood pressure. the commonly prescribed medicine to lower blood pressure is Beta Blockers. These act by slowing heart rate and reducing the force of heart beat.

Cerebral Vasculitis (mis)diagnosis/RCVS/vasospasms
Early Tuesday morning on April 28th, 2015 I woke up at 3:30am with an extremely painful migraine that I have come to associate as “thunderclap headache.” I had blurred vision, sweats, and a pounding in my head that was unlike anything I had ever experienced in my life. It was so bad my first thought

My husband who is 84 has just been told he has atrial fibrillation.
He has just had an ECG which showed this up. He has always had very low blood pressure and yet has been on a low dose of Atenolol for about 10 years, given for essential tremor. However after a stay in hospital over New Year [and a subsequent diagnosis of cancer of the common bile duct :( ] A stent
