Nifedipine - how do YOU take it?
Hi! The rheumatologist I last saw has sent a vague instruction to my GP recommending that I take nifedipine “in the winter months”, but not specifying strength, frequency etc. This is to combat what I think is worsening Raynaud’s in my hands - permanently wrinkled fingertips as if I’ve just come out

Hyponatremia, Raynaud's and P.S.V.T

it’s been a long time since I posted . I do however read other people’s stories and I think the conversations are amazing with so much advice been given thus encouraging people to often be able to advocate for themselves with the medics. I was diagnosed in 2015 but like many others believe the Scleroderma

Atenolol v Diltiazem
I have been taking Diltiazem for about 3 years to control my heart rate because of AF. However, my ankles and feet have become more swollen recently and I cannot get my wedding ring on either. My GP has suggested I take Atenolol instead. The other alternative is to increase the water tablet. He was

Changed from atenolol to bisoprolol
Hi! I saw my consultant nurse on Tuesday who said my recent ziopatch showed more ectopic beats and episodes of VT. I was on 50mg of atenolol once a day for 10 years, had no issues but did feel it maybe wasn’t quite working as well lately. So she has switched me to bisoprolol 2.5mg twice a day. I’ve had

BP issues.
So I've been on this forum for approximately 2 years. When I was first diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease, my blood pressure had exceeded 179 /90; my eGFR 55. Upon seeing my PCP, I was prescribed Losartan 25 mg daily. I titrated dose 12.5mg twice day; I was overweight by 50 lbs. Now, 2 years later

Stopping Losartan
Hello. I wonder if you can give me some advice. I am 73 years old. I have been living with some degree of hypertension most of my life, and on medication since I had an aneurysm in 2005. A dose which controlled my blood pressure of Atenolol 100 + Enalapril 10 was established not long after that, and

Atenolol supply, upset by new alternative.
I am in Scotland and have been taking the same brand of Atenolol for over 20 years, it is the Almus Bristol brand which is also lactose free. I have many gastric conditions and also biliary/ liver problems and for some reason this tablet has given me no side effects in all this time. Fast forward

Has anyone been prescribed Fluoxetine for Raynaud's?
I have taken 4mg of Lacidipine for Raynaud's for several years. Nifedipine caused bad headaches so Lacidipine was prescribed instead. I don't get full blown 3 phase Raynaud's attacks these days but my fingers are often blue for long periods of time despite being in a warm environment and my feet suffer

Are all Blood Pressure Meds Awful?
I realise they may be/are lifesaving, but after nearly 30 years I am running out of options for BP control. For many years I took 25mg atenolol, 20 Lisinopril and 1.5 Indapamide. The latter seemed to make the biggest difference. I can’t take large doses of beta blockers as they stop me from breathing

Secondary Raynauds , haemorrhaged capillaries near fingernails
I've had secondary raynauds for about 3 years, diagnosed by nailfold capillaroscopy and thermology (just told bluntly that my capillaries are abnormal) I've had all sorts of issues from it like poor/distorted nail growth, white fingers when cold and red puffy fingers when warm, chillblains, red skin

afib and a flutter
I was diagnosed with Afib after I lost my husband in 2020. It does run in my family, but up to 63 years of age I was perfectly fine. Long story short I was just put on Atenolol and my hair is falling out. Has anyone ever experience this? Atenolol is a beta blocker.

change of medication to Atenolol from Bisoprolol
I have been on Bisoprolol for a couple of weeks but I haven’t felt great. I felt tired and foggy most of the time, struggled to get my breath and my feet were freezing. I have spoken to the pharmacist at our surgery and he has changed my medication to Atenolol even though he said Bisoprolol was the preferred
