Portacath fitted
Having seen the post about a PICC line has prompted me to post. I had a portacath fitted 2 weeks ago as I have lymoedema in one arm and veins in the other have been battered and was under the impression that it would be used for everything - chemo, blood tests etc. It is not the case - they are still

A somewhat overdue update.
A lot has happened since my last post. I had a total hysterectomy (The whole factory is gone now), omenectomy, and low anterior resection of my bowel near the rectum as part of my surgical debulking on January 20th. I initially healed well from it, but ended up back in the hospital January 31st when

Not the worst thing I've had to live with....
I was diagnosed ten years ago and had a biopsy to diagnose PBC and have had two more, five year intervals, to stay on top of things. Also have upper endoscopies to check for varices (varicose veins in the throat and esophagus) every two years. My Alk-phos progressively got worse as time passed and pretty

Worried
My sister has just had her second cycle of chemo. Last week it was cargo/taxol, this week taxol on its own. She suffered with a bad stomach 2 days after first cycle which pretty much lasted for four days. She isn't eating much at all and didn't eat anything for three of the four days her stomach was

Bats in a hospital again
Low blood sodium again. I was on my way back to my bedroom from the kitchen when all of a sudden I felt like the world dropped down a hole in front of me. I tried to get to my room, but passed out before I made it. I was found face-down with my arms beside me, and dh thought I'd had a seizure. I came

I'm back
Sorry I was missing for a while but I was having technical issues on my end. I just had the expanders put in Jan 1/17. Drains are out and the first of the expansion saline has been added. So far so good. As I sit home watching my furbabies play, I am happy to be alive.

Advice on saline nebules please
I use saline through a nebuliser several times a day to help clear mucus, every time I do I feel short of breath and I am not finding that a lot of mucus is coming up.I find I am making my chest sore and my ribs through trying to cough it up.I use the usual huffing breathing technique to try and loosen

Salt therapy
Hello everyone, well my asthma is once more under control after last weeks attack. I bought a saline plus salt therapy unit for my bedroom and well I do seem to be sleeping a lot better. May be coincidence but as I gets such good reviews I'm willing to have it on every night to breath easy. I was wondering

Nebulisers
I am currently struggling with a nasty pneumonia in hospital and was distressed to find that I had another bad reaction to nebulisers. Just simple saline the other night and ventolin plus a Similar one to my tiotropium inhaler today. Renders me terrible breathless and wheezy and drives doctors mad!
