What tests do I need to ask my GP for to rule out/diagnose PA?
Hello everyone, I apologise in advance as this post will be quite long but I want to give as much info as possible about my situation. I have an autoimmune disease and take immune suppressing medication for it. Consequently I have regular blood tests, looking at, among other things, my WCC. Over the

Positive IFAB results just in.
Well, I got my intrinsic factor test back just now. It is positive! why am I happy about this? I guess I feel now that there is absolutely no question and that I have a definitive answer for what has plagued me most of my life. I actually feel relieved that I have pernicious anemia. How crazy is that

INTRINSIC FACTOR ANTIBODY TEST . Has any member with P.A. had to have more than one IFAB test to get a positive reading ?
Is it a fact that the Intrinsic Factor antibodies come and go continually ? Or do they not appear when the patient has had P.A. untreated for a long period ,and the antibodies have “done their job “ and destroyed the parietal cells ?

Thybon Henning doesn’t contain acacia?!
Sharing for info but also a question around changes to formulation. I’ve recently had my T3 increased which meant moving to Thybon Henning 20s. Since I’m allergic to acacia, I set about trying to find out if it contained it. I spoke to 2 pharmacies (SmartWay and Roseseway Labs) as well as doing my

we are looking at all our patients on B12 Injections; hence it is necessary that we check your current B12 levels and check for for Pernicious Aneamia which (is inability to absorb from your stomach)and So that we can continue to adminoster injections to those that have positive antibodies and advised

Vitamin B12 deficiency update
After waiting over 3 weeks for my Intrinsic Factor blood test - it’s normal Intrinsic Factor ABS 2.30 - so I am to take CyanocoMinn 50mg - 2 each day for 8 weeks and then more tests including celiac test. I am feeling incredibly tired and wiped out at the moment, which I just put down to PMR so hope

confused re blood results
please help! I have many classic lupus (or rheumatoid arthritis) symptoms inc joint pain, skin rashes esp after being in sun, tingling in fingers, fatigue and headaches. ANA was negative but following a further set of bloods done by a private rheumatologist, he confirmed that they were all normal.

diagnosed
Was originally diagnosed 8 years ago. I have not had injections for 2 years due to covid so asked GP to restart them but wouldn’t without blood test etc. blood test has come back saying b12 is normal and intrinsic factor is negative so he is saying I don’t have PA anymore? And therefore won’t treat me

intrinsic factor antibody test results
Hi all, I wrote some time ago to say that following having lots of symptoms of B12 problems for some time I paid for an online extended B12 test which showed I was positive for intrinsic factor antibodies but normal B12. I gave these results to my GP who arranged their own NHS intrinsic factor test

Worth a Spit ? Why saliva could hold the answer
Trying to work out how B12 makes the journey: - Salivary glands produce Haptocorrin (HC), which binds to the B12 in food (the extrinsic factor) - HC/ B12 mix then travels on via oesophagus into the stomach - HC/B12 mix can survive the low PH of stomach - Parietal cells produce hydrochloric

my biologic drugs stopped due to leg ulcer
I’ve had a very rough few months and things are going from bad to worse ! I started IDACIO in January (thinks it’s generic version of Adalumimab). At the time nothing was mentioned of leg ulcer I have which is taking such a long time to heal. However at my recent rheumy appointment when they realised
