Newbie here, tests/symptoms suggest PA or AAG

My spouse is the only person I've shared all this with. He's been by my side and supportive throughout numerous doctors shrugging their shoulders — and

Ferritin that will not raise - what to investigate?
Hi everyone, I've had huge issues with ferritin since diagnosis in 2019 and I cannot get it to raise higher than the early 20s and the doctors are absolutely no help with trying to find the cause. My ferritin is currently 23 range 30-250 and I have been taking iron medicine and eating liver consistently

Intrinsic Factor Test
Hi Community :) For the last 3 years, I've had increasing numbness and burning pins and needles, headaches, fatigue, brain fog, and have been shedding weight. My GP has had me tested for MS (MRI scan says "no") and Neurology have diagnosed "funtional neurological disorder - FND". I then researched

Could ET mask a diagnosis of Vitamin B12 deficiency/Pernicious anaemia?
I have an ET JAK2 mutation diagnosis (on aspirin) and have some neurological type symptoms that are similar to those associated with a Vit B12 deficiency. Athough I'm now taking a B12 supplement, I was wanting to see if I could get a B12 injection in case my issue related to an inability to absorb B12

Testing coming up
I read this helpful info on a forum post here from the admin: “Taking supplements that contain B12 will affect any tests ordered by your doctor to assess your B12 status. You should not take any supplement with B12 before having your B12 assessed (including MMA/homocysteine/Active B12). For testing

GP refusing to offer IFAB Test
I recently requested and Intrinsic Factor Antibody test with my GP and was told there's no need to do this test if my Parietal Cell antibody test was negative/normal. The Parietal Cell test was done in Jan 2021 and I assumed the IFAB was done at the same time and also came back normal. (I was unaware

Questions & Advice for a newbie please!
Hi all, I've been investigating possible causes of long-term fatigue. My symptoms & PA risk factors are listed below. I'm currently waiting on results for the Intrinsic factor antibodies test (bloods taken over 2 weeks ago through GP). On advice of a nutritionist I've been taking an oral B complex,

IFAB testing guidelines per Mayo clinic laboratory website
I found this IFAB test guideline. I found a few things pretty interesting. This particular lab which is the lab that did my IFAB test says that you should be fasting for 8 hours before you take this test and you should not have had any B12 injections within 2 weeks prior to the test. Another interesting

Gentle liver flush - any benefits?
Hi All I've been reading about the link between hypothyroid and liver. I have decided to do a gentle detox. This involves castor oil on a cloth and a hot water bottle and lying it on the liver region for about 45 minutes. I've do it two days in a row. I just wondered if anyone else has done this and

Re testing all patients on b12 injections
I suppose this is just a heads up for anyone in the Cheshire and Merseyside area. I called my new gp surgery (having recently moved house) to book my b12 injection. I was told that I would need blood tests for b12 and intrinsic factor. I explained that these were done in 2017, my b12 was low and intrinsic

muscle stiffness
Hey guys, I am dealing with some of the side effects of a b12 deficiency. I am still awaiting the results from a blood test, testing for intrinsic factor. Most of my symptoms have improved a lot but I am left with a burning pain all down my leg, off balance and most importantly speech difficulty.

Hi everyone, I've just had retrospective confirmation that I was B12 deficient. After 6 injections have improved my RBC, MCH, WCC and heamoglobin. My heamotoligist wants to test me for MMA and intrinsic factor. How long do I need to leave the tests after an injection? Will the MMA be skewed from

Advice please.
I was diagnosed with PA in 2006 after having a blood transfusion due to low haemoglobin. I was given the loading dose of b12 and then continued to have them every 8-12 weeks. I was also prescribed 5mg folic acid daily. In 2015 I seemed to develop a sensitivity to my b12 injections (hives, hot flushed
