is there a spot on this site to define acronyms commonly used? In a discussion about blood thinners lots were used so it made many of the posts unintelligible to me. I am in US. PIP And others

Steroids v Rituximab - any advice/opinions?
so I’ve not been on here for a very long time while I’ve been going round the houses with different consultants. I’m now in the position where I’m getting bad flares and high ANA but a bit of a question mark over whether it’s lupus or multiple autoimmune issues causing it. MCAS is strongly suspected

Blood thinners
I was diagnosed in Feb with AF and asked a GP if I should avoid leafy veg with vitamin K. He referred me to Cardiology but I have been put on a waiting list to see/speak to one but the list is 30 to 35 months long! Does anyone know, I am taking Lixiana edoxaban? Many thanks in advance.

Mech Valves and Warfarin
My curiosity more than anything re- those people with Mechanical Valves and if there is anyone who is on a different blood thinner to Warfarin. I've always been told from Surgeons, Cardiologists, GPs and Pharmacists that there is no suitable alternative, but, is that really true? I've had mech Aortic

stopping blood thinners/antiplatelets for steroid injections
Hi all! I saw an orthopaedic surgeon the other day for an ongoing painful back problem -- bulging disks, spinal stenosis, spondylosthetis (sp?). He said I didn't need surgery (whew!) as I'm completely mobile and active so he offered steroid injections into the facet joints. He has to stop the blood

Anticoagulant as a PIP? Is this possible?
I realise my query is minority interest, but any feedback thankfully received. I have lone AF, soon to be prescribed Flecainide + beta blocker, both as PIPs if needed. So far, very predictable. However I also have an appt looming with an Anticoagulation Team. And here's the rub. I have genuine

3rd time unlucky 8dp2dt
As the title says it hasn’t been our time once again. AF is well and truly here. I thought this round would be different. We changed clinics, changed protocol, found out I had high NK cells and got the meds for that, taken blood thinners, managed to get two embryos which is unheard of. Added additional

What's the point of taking Flecainide if it gives you flutter?
Has anyone else decided to live with Afib on no drugs (other than
anticoagulants
) rather than have flutter on Flecainide?

any advice on choice of blood thinners please ?
unfortunately the Kardia mobile I bought ( thanks so much all of you for the advice on this) has confirmed that I am having regular episodes of AF ( bit not this time fast AF) followed by SR with ( sequentially wide QRS and PVCs and Supraventricular ectopy. This latter now appears to be the default

Newbies to afib - harness your fear
You will be on
anticoagulants
(most important) but don't let it drag you down to much. I know what it's like being in bad afib - believe me. I'm in it as I type. Hearts all over the place and I couldn't walk down the road at the minute. Will it beat me - no.

Low hemoglobin count - related to blood thinners?
Hello - hope you're all doing OK. I had a heart attack in December and 2 stents fitted; have been on all sorts of drugs since - 2 of them blood thinners - Aspirin and ticagrelor since. Have recently had routine blood test showing very low hemoglobin levels which could account for general feeling of

Small Purple/Red Bruises
I’ve just noticed several small red/purple dots/bruises on one forearm. Does anyone else have these or know what they are? I’m on Rivaroxaban and Flecainide and I read somewhere they could be caused by blood thinners? Any info greatly received.
