BLOOD THINNER😡
Anticoagulants
, or "blood thinners" as they are popularly known, can keep blood clots from forming or getting bigger, and can therefore help with recovery from heart defects or prevent further complications.

Given contradictory information
I've just been told by a hematologist that Warfarin does not effect the blood screen outcome. He said that Apixaban can but not Warfarin. An APS specialist advised that I should come off all anti-coagulants if I am to decided to repeat the screen. Not sure who is correct and I find people arguing both

Double Lung Transplant
My uncle got a double lung transplant September 11, 2020. He is currently in ICU. He had to have 2 emergency surgeries due to one of the lungs not working properly. He was put on an ECMO machine and ventilator. 2 days later they put him on dyalisis. I've been visiting him daily. It's so hard to see him

My first AFib episode since diagnosis
I do understand that once you are on
anticoagulants
, AFib episodes are not classed as urgent, but I was told by cardiology at the time of diagnosis that they still need to know as it will have impact on my future treatment plans.

Me and my big mouth......!
He also explained about how the new
anticoagulants
work, and how they are more effective for most people( not all) than warfarin.New ones work directly on the clotting process, warfarin indirectly. So I am waiting to see what happens now.

Eye health
I had to share this revelation. 5 years ago I was diagnosed with an unusual type of glaucoma. I've been unable to tolerate any glaucoma medication. Glaucoma is a situation where your eye pressures are too high and it starts to irreversibly destroy the optic nerve, ultimately resulting in total blindness

Cardiac on top of MBC
Has anyone here had "open heart" surgery? I ask because besides the MILBC I've been living with for over 16 years, I've developed a couple of cardiac issues, a leaky mitral value and a-fib. My cardiologist referred me to a cardiac surgeon hoping one (open heart in which the sternum would be cut thru

Although I have been a member of this forum for a year, this is my first blog. I have really learnt a lot from other members, particularly about triggers and treatments. I am 60, male, and have had chronic paroxysmal AF and Atrial Tachycardia for more than 20 years. I have had 3 ablations and was lined

Link FND to blood clots??
Did anyone see how those with covid are having neurological disorders, covid is linked to blood clots. They now use blood thinners to treat it, as well as other treatments, I suppose it depends on the patients other health problems. They say there will be an upsurge of Parkinson's disease because of

Osteoarthritis pain, AF and Warfarin
Mornin’ all, Can I have a minute of your time, need some thoughtful comments from you talented guys and gals who may have some experience of Osteoarthritis pain (OA) and AF and Warfarin, especially MarkS and ILowe if you are lurking. My OA pain is now beyond pain, well beyond it, sleep deprivation

Pluerisy post pulmonary embolism and Covid 19
I am still on a low dose of steroids, because of the Psoriatic arthritis and have been on
anticoagulants
since the end of April, so I can't take Ibuprofen or Naproxen. All I have been given to cope with the pleurisy is Paracetamol plus caffeine and codeine, which I can take every 6 hours.

Antiphosholipid syndrome, lifelong anti coagulation. Now being stopped.
Hi, I wrote here a couple of weeks back, saying Guys Haem team want me off
anticoagulants
after 12 months prior telling me they will not ever take me off them due to precious possible TIAS and positive lupus anticoagulant and ab2gp1 blood results, waxing and waning over the years.

Was anyone else asked to take blood thinners after egg retrieval?
My IVF nurse has asked me to take Arovi following egg retrieval , however when I went in to have my egg retrieval, the fertility consultant wasn’t sure why this was requested as all embryos are being frozen and I don’t have a history of clotting problems. I called the clinic and left a message, missed
