My uncle got a double lung transplant September 11, 2020. He is currently in ICU. He had to have 2 emergency surgeries due to one of the lungs not working properly. He was put on an ECMO machine and ventilator. 2 days later they put him on dyalisis. I've been visiting him daily. It's so hard to see him this way. He's not following commands therefore doctors did a CT Scan yesterday. Results came back normal.
Doctors took him off ECMO machine and dyalisis 2 days ago, but he is still on a ventilator. I received news today he's kidneys are not doing good and will be going on dyalisis for the 2nd time. He also got a blood clot on his inner thigh and had a fever last night. He no longer has a fever today. They put him on blood thinners and waiting for test results. He has been sedated all this time.
Your experiences are appreciate it.

He maybe taking longer to wake properly precisely because he has been on ECMO & dialysis - he will not be able to clear all the sedatives out of his system quickly hence slowness to follow commands.
Hi DeisyD, I recognise how hard this time is for you. My husband was on and off sedation and kidney machine so many times that I thought I might go crazy, but eventually, when he was ready, he started to come back to me. I really had to learn that healing will take it's own time and however painful it is we cannot hurry it. Your uncle is getting the care that he needs and I urge you to take good care of yourself as well.
