Help needed please
He went to hospital twice and is just finishing his second round of
antibiotics
. He is due to start treatment asap. How will we know when the infection has gone? The lump is now about 4cms x 3 cms and is not painful any more. He feels very weak and wobbly and doesn’t feel like walking far.

Getting IVIG prophylactically?
After 8+ weeks on
antibiotics
, the staph was much improved - but then he developed C-diff and landed back in the hospital for a few nights. In 2021, he got IVIG after a bout with immunthrombocytopenia, and it was event-free and successful.

Hot weather & getting nutrition right
I had pneumonia but to me it felt very weird because I was very hot & the doctors said my heart rate is above 120 & I was given steroids &
antibiotics
. I was struggling to stay cool & also struggling with what to eat that will keep me energised.

Diuretics
Has anyone found a particular diuretic effective for swollen feet? when I first reported them to my GP, she prescribed Indapamide - which had a marginal effect. I was due to see my cardiologist a short while later, and told him what I was taking, he said 'No, that's the wrong one' and said I needed

Words of hope for the newly diagnosed
I was very ill when first diagnosed, having been somewhat neglected by the health system ie handed prescriptions for
antibiotics
time and time again without any suggestion of referral to a consultant.

child development and maternal thyroid health
She asked me if I took
antibiotics
at all during pregnancy, which I did not. But I mentioned my thyroid condition and she said that, yes, that might (potentially) have been a factor. What / where is the data on health conditions such as this and links, if any, to maternal hypothyroidism?

Slighty deranged liver
When l did my bloods l was in the middle of a 10day course of
antibiotics
...can that raise enzymes? 2. Since l got my results l haven't touched alcohol, can l have say one red wine at night or total abstinence? 3. Can you have temporarily high enzymes that go back to normal in time?

IBS flaring since antibiotics
So
antibiotics
. Then bad sinus infection. More anti biotics. Really messed up my digestive system. more C. But the pain is wind. Anywhere I can hear it. But get sharp pain in my pelvic floor area. Even a pee can start it up. GP says will take time. But Buscopan not really helping.

When the drugs don’t work
After having her hip taken out, a spacer put in, and 6+ months of IV
antibiotics
administered daily via a pic line, she finally had a third revision in 2012. But remained in constant pain and has been advised the replacement is working it way loose.

TSH of 8.9 but tachycardia
I thought I was just depressed so I tried
antibiotics
which did nothing. I had blood tests which showed my TSH levels are 8.9 and my doctor recommends I take 25mg Levothyroxine.

UTI and microscopic haematuria
This worked for 7 years until mother of infection which took 2 lots of
antibiotics
to subside, and has left me with microscopic haematuria. Don't want further tests, has anyone else experienced this? Apologies this is not a PMR question unless the two can be connected?

Candida or Parkinson’s
She took
antibiotics
for a leg ulcer last year so I suspected Candida. A dentist told her it wasn’t, a pharmacist told her it was. Nystatin was prescribed. She took it for about 5 days but it seemed to make it worse.

Pleural effusion, then oramorph od !
The consensus was that it was definitely the oramorph - I had a couple of
antibiotics
but I'd had those before with no problem. So in future (hopefully never) I shall avoid anything to do with morphine.
