morning , yesterday started with severe left side pain starting lower down and increasing to under ribs and then across to belly button . Also making sore back . I have diverticulitis ( right word?). I seem to remember many years ago getting antibiotics ( reluctant to take). For a tender side
Last night I couldn’t have walked the dog again even if it was cool enough! This morning I’ve managed a walk
It’s still very tender to touch and stitch like
So if slightly better I’m thinking don’t need to try for an appointment? Opinions please and what could it be ( i know we arnt medical lol ).
I float between constipation and diahoria

I am currently experiencing similar symptoms plus acid reflux. The pain is awful and I feel nauseaus too. I have been quite scared by itvthiscafternoon as it seems worse than my usual bouts. Its been going on for hours now with no let up.
I seems to get nowhere medical help wise. There are so many meds I cant tolerate. I have a phone app with my gastroenterologist next week but feel no joy that he will suggest anything to help. I go around in circles and feel dreadful much of the time. I empathise with you.
Thankyou for the reply and I’m sorry you feel bad too . I’m usually sick wirh everything but not this time . Bad lower back ache to go with stitch like pain tonight and cramps and toilet runs . Today wasn’t as bad as the day before until tonight . I’ve filled in the Gp online forms for a call back from nurse tomorrow . But feel I’m wasting their time I get so anxious about to visits I don’t want to go and I’m never ever having cameras ever again !
So sorry you are having such a bad time of it. It seems never ending doesnt it. I too am tired of doctors and consultants appointments and making no traction towards a solution.
I dread seeing my GP as I seem to be there constantly. She must be truly fed up with me but as a friend says perhaps they should all be trying harder to find a solution, who knows, all I know its so wearing, on and on it goes.
I wish you well and that you find some traction towards relief.
It might be a flare up of diverticulitis. DiverticulOSIS can stay quite steady until things get inflamed. That might be it. You might need antibiotics? I guess there's a time and a place for them though that's not ideal I know. But they can zap diverticulitis quickly. I have a friend who gets it sometimes. I hope you start to feel better soon.
If the pain is lower down then probably not but could be a number of things, best to get checked out particularly if it is tender to touch etc kidney infection? diverticulitis? Gallstones? Etc etc
thanks I take that as and when too , dr told me no need to take before every meal just take when feeling crampy , sick or bloated and uncomfortable. Will see what ring back says today , it’s always better in the morning and gets worse , food I guess
I also take husk and probiotic recommend by consultant who did my colonoscopy. These help too. I go to Aqua aerobics 3 times a week and do yoga and plenty of walking. Keeping active helps me. Hope you find what’s best for you
going through the same here. Using buscopan to ease the pain. I have diverticulosis but haven’t had diverticulitis. If it doesn’t pass I will be calling the doctor tomorrow. Plenty of liquids and so solid food and walking and bending helps. Not keen to take antibiotics unless I have to. I have COPD and take enough of them already when I get a chest infection.
ok update nurse rang back happy I don’t need seeing if I am . It’s not worse and not as bad as day 1. She said up my mebervine to three times a day before food . Can ring 111 if weekend for antibiotics . Keep getting cramps but no diarrho today . She mentioned buscapan but I’m sure someone somewhere at hospital told me not to take it ? Thankyou for all the help x
I encourage you check w a doctor asap due to the severity. I have also had “attacks” of that type pain- sometimes from extreme IBS, constipation, or ileocecal valve dysfunction, all of which has , thru time, proven to ”benign” (tho miserable). (IF yours is ileocecal valve dysfunction. You Tube has massage tech, to help, It also take Iberogast and that relieves) . Still, in your case i might suggest it safer to have a hands-on medical exam, if you can get one (not always easy to do, tho worth the effort for peace of mind) .Good luck . Bh. PS you might want to use search engine and explore ileocecal valve dysfunction)
