ART How Should We Monitor Patients During Active Surveillance?
ART How Should We Monitor Patients During Surveillance? Summary; 6 years old but still representative of the low usage of multi parametric mpMRI in the detection of prostate cancer in lieu of traditional SOC methods, i.e., DRE and PSA. I was on AS (active surveillance) for 10 years before my treatment

8/4/23 Update questions for MO
To review, after 19 months on Lupron, Zytiga, prednisone, PSA increased on 1/23 to 0.253, then 0.309 on 2/21. Plarify scan showed only one active site in hip which was radiated. 4/4 PSA dropped to 0.24 which indicated the lesion was knocked out and I would be hormone sensitive and stay on Zytiga. Yea

Radium-223 + Xtandi?
I’ve been on chemo (cabazitaxel + carboplatin) since Jan 2022 and also on Zometa and Lupron. PSA went from 1.3 in Jan 2023 to 11.7 this month. CT and Bone scans show bone mets somewhat stable but with activity, all bone no soft tissue. PET PSMA earlier this year did not show enough tracer activity

BAD NEWS
If you followed my recent post, you'll remember that I was ecstatic to have had a consultation with the team at Royal Marsden Cancer Clinic, where I was told that my PET scan of June, my PSA of June (4.4) and my overall good health meant that they felt I needed nothing more than dexamethasone and there

clinical trails for metastatic castrate resistant pc
It appears my husband may have become castrate resistant. PSA has risen from undetectable <.1 to now .2. We speak with oncologists on Wednesday. I believe he might have the possibility of radiation as a treatment bc he was oliogometastic at diagnosis 15 months ago. He had chemo along with hormones

radiation decisions and second and third opinions
My dad was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. It has metastasized to two pelvic lymph nodes and a lymph node in his back they initially called “suspicious” because it’s so small if it wasn’t for the PSMA scan it wouldn’t have been picked up at all. He got his first Lupron shot 3 weeks ago and

dilemma ADT duration
apologies first for another longish verbose posting ! I am in a dilemma after my last oncology appointment - I have T2cN0M0 G9 locally contained PCa following a failed HIFU that was previously twice biopsied as G7. After a clear PSMA showing locally contained with no SV involvement I had 20x3Gy to

Was Chemo "Successful"?
I just had my first PSA test after waiting to allow the results to mean something, after 10 rounds of doxytaxel. I was supposed to wait three months but for convenience pushed it by a week. I was hoping for a close to 0 PSA but that is not the case. I see my oncologist in a little more than a week

Change in Carcinoma
I had low dose brachytherapy in 2010 with seeds and success. My PSA started raising again in 2021. I opted for high dose brachytherapy and my PSA is 0.1. This year I had difficulty urinating and recently had a procedure similar to a TURP to remove tissue in my urethra near my prostate. This procedure

Never get tired of annoucing I am STILL undetectable
108 bottles of Zytiga on the shelf. Got my latest PSA and blood test results. Once again, officially 8 years 9 months since November 2014 results, PSA still undetectable at <.008. Another Zero candy bar for me. (I bought a few, and been handing them out like cigars after a new birth.) I have had somewhat

Radiation for Salvage Treatment
I am about to start salvage treatment after a failed surgery and a rising PSA value of 0.1. However, I would like to know if weeks of external radiation with ADT, is the best treatment option here. The idea of blindly radiating pelvic area with a re-recurrence a few years later does not appeal to me.

Update on my father
I just wanted to post a quick update on my father. He has metastatic castrate resistant prostate cancer. He’s been on ADT - Eligard shots every 3 months and prednisone + zytiga everyday. It’s challenging as I work with him and see all the ins and outs of his behaviour while on those meds. He remains

PSA rising
Just got this report from PSMA scan. Increased size of a few mildly tracer avid aorto-caval lymphnodes. The largest of these nodes measures 0.5 cm in short axis (image 204), previously measured 0.2 cm. Meet with MO tomorrow. I am 10 years in. Prostatectomy, bed radiation, and two years ago, whole

Revisiting Intermittent Therapy in Metastatic Prostate Cancer
The A-Dream Phase 2 trial is taking a second look at intermittent therapy for mHSPCa. In the study they hope to answer the question 1. Can intermittent therapy (a break from treatment) for high responders (PSA < .2 over 18-24 mos) on ADT+ARPi be more effective than continuous ADT (the current standard
