PSA moving way too fast .

My prostate was removed 2002 at which time my PSA went to -0 . Five years later it came back and since than it kept on going up very slow till 2020 when I had COVID-19 which almost killed me . As soo as I started feeling better my PSA went from 12 to 25 in a very short time . I do check it every six months and from 25 in six months it went to 45 and than to 79 and a week ago it went to 109 . Right way they sent me on a PET scan . The problem is they told me that I have to wait two weeks to get the results . Every year I had scan done on the pelvis and the bones and nothing showed up . Now I pray that the PET scan will also show that I have no cancer anywhere in my body . I am asking you if any of you have had the same problem with the PSA ? Funny thing happened in the hospital while waiting for them to take me in another man walked in the room with the same problem as me . We got talking and he also told me that the same thing happened to him as me . He said that he too had COVID-19 a year ago and since than his PSA started going up very fast and that is why they sent him for PET scan like me . How about that isn't that something both of us with the same problem . Has this happened to any of you guys ? Thanks for any info and God bless .

The high PSA means that the cancer has spread beyond the prostate. To keep your cancer in check, you will need hormone therapy immediately.

Thanks bud . I will wait till next week to get the results from the PET scan and take it from there . My doctor said we will do nothing till then . Thanks again and God bless .

I must ask, why was nothing done as soon as you detected PSA? You do not have a prostate, means you should not have any PSA.

I didn't have for five years and than it showed up and started going up slowly . They kept on sending me for scanners every year but could not find anything . The doctors kept on telling m not to worry . They said it could be my kedny or something else . They even went in and still couldn't find anything . I asked them shouldn't you be giving me some meds or something to take ? Than they said we can't give you any meds till we know where and what is the problem . That is why i called the doctor who operated me in Toronto to see what he would recommend . He told me to have PET scan done right way and it will show if there is any cancer in my body .

in reply to Bowmaster

Your Toronto doctor is correct.

Prostate does not produce testosterone, the testes produce the hormone. The prostate may be affected with the cancer, but removing the prostate does not stop the hormone production.

in reply to Texasjack1957

WHAT???? Reread my post then reread what you responded.

We are talking PSA. NOT Testosterone.

I agree with you . They didn't remove my testes when they removed my prostate and now i feel some lumps in one of them . I hope the PET scan will show if that is the problem so I can have them removed at lust . I am almost 69 years old and I am having sex almost every day and never get enough of it !!! That can not be normal .

I was diagnosed July 2000 and declined all treatment. Psa slowly rising until I got Covid Nov. 2020. April 2021 Psa was over 300. Thought maybe vaccines caused it. Nope, by Nov 2021 it was 900 and May 2022 it was 5664. Started 30 day regimen of Casodex and halfway through started monthly Lupron. Psa dropped to 278 in a month and came down to 6 after 10 months. MO just put me on low dose abiraterone and still coming down. Hope this helps, God Bless.
