Rheumatologist consultation since my original post
Today I have, finally, received a copy of a letter from my Rheumatologist, sent to my GP, following my consultation on the 1st July. Under “Diagnosis” she has written; ?Polymyaglia Rheumatica, ?Ploymyalgic Arthritis. So, apparently, the jury is still out! Under “Medication” she has put; 1. Prednisolone

..........and the guilty supplement is...........?
Hey everybody. I’m back on the supplements band wagon after a couple of years deciding that they were more money than they were worth. But we try anything twice as PWP right? 😂 Trouble is, one of these little beauties is giving me terrible upset tummy (gurgling like Ol’ Faithful). Without me trying

DEXA SCAN RESULTS. Help needed to understand them please.
Belatedly after many requests my Doctor gave me my Dexa scan report. It is now almost two years so I realise the situation may have got worse, however I would be grateful for any input from the Forum to help me understand these figures especially the Z scores. I am currently on Risedronate having done

Zinc carnosine
I would like to try zinc carnosine for my gastritis and heartburn but am worried it may give me restless legs. Does anyone have any experience of this. An extract reads Carnosine is a naturally-occurring compound made from the amino acids beta-alanine and histidine.

Rheumy telephone call appointment
I had a telephone appointment with my Rheumy yesterday, and basically it didn't go well!! The last time I spoke to her was November 2020, and I have not actually seen her for a very long time. Everything I am doing/not doing is wrong as it doesn't fit within her guidelines, which are reduce 1mg every

Burning tongue or burning mouth
If any of you have burning tongue or mouth syndrome you might want to check this out as it helped me. Many years ago when I was doing some research for burning mouth syndrome I found R-Alpha Lipoic Acid and, at that time, R-ALA was only available in the USA (ALA is readily available but supposedly

Zoledronic acid infusion - side effects sound horrendous. Any advice?
Hi folks, My osteoporosis consultant has recommended an intravenous infusion of Zolendronic acid, as I can't stomach the Alendronic acid tablets. My last DEXA scan was January 2019 - the numbers I can't remember but they were at a low level yet not low enough for treatment. Consultant says they are

I've lost all hope.
I am so fed up and at the end of my rope. I have been trying to get treatment for over five years now. There have been several GPs (due to the first one leaving the practice and Covid necessitating using who you are given). There have been several gynaecologists and scans. I get told one thing and

So many capsules, tablets, powders to swallow....
Hello everyone, I trust this post of mine finds you well. I wanted to ask you, how do you deal with all these things we have to swallow? More than once I found myself choking on a huge omega 3 capsule or a polyvitamin one. Maybe even a Mg capsule. And what about the constant need to drink, I don't even

Bisphosphonate success?
I am in desperate need of some positivity and success stories regarding the use of bisphophonates, particularly the once a week for 2-3 years regimen, and then hopefully a drug holiday. The word I see most often on this site is "terrified", as I also am, by other readers considering the prospect of

What dosage of calcium supplement is recommended when on prednisolone?
I'm on 7.5mg of prednisolone. At my rheumatologists appointment today I advised him that I wouldn't be taking up his recommendation of Alendronic Acid despite having a very small amount of osteoporosis in my lower lumber region. I advised him that I was taking Caltrate which has 600mg calcium/200 IU
