Hi, just want to preface this post by saying I’m seeing my doctor at the end of the week but I’m wondering if anyone is willing to share if they take anxiety medication and Ursodiol for PBC. I have always struggled with anxiety and lately, am having random panic attacks so I’m thinking about taking as needed medication to help. I read that Lorazepam is well tolerated with liver issues. If anyone has thoughts to share I would love to hear them, thanks!

Anxiety medication and PBC
Hi.I'm on cipramil for years and the hepatologist didn't say I shouldn't be on it. I was diagnosed with PBC last December. I find cipramil good for my anxiety.
Best of luck.

I take Citalapram , have done since my husband died. It doesn’t seem to have any affect on the PBC. Xx
I take Sertraline as prescribed by the hepatologist for the so called itch of PBC but it is an antidepressant as well. I find it has also improved my mood.
I take amitriptyline for anxiety and night hot flushes I've had PBC for 17yrs and this medication does not interfere with Urso tablets
I take both Lexapro and Ursodiol. I was dx with PBC and prescribed Ursodiol well before I started Lexapro.
I’m sure they will find something to help.
Best wishes.
I also take Sertralina 100 mg everyday in the morning. I agree it helps with the itch also. My hematologist said it’s part of my PBC meds.
I have taken Lorazepam (Ursodiol for over two)for a long time and know of no problem. Good luck in discussion with your medical professional.

I have taken urso for 5 years, have taken fluoxitine ( Prozac)for low mood and anxiety following a small stroke many years ago. When I have occasional particularly stressful life events I have been prescribed small quantities of diazapam for very short periods of time ......none of the the medications appear to have any adverse effect on my liver. I never used to take any medications but i feel life is to short to continue to struggle with mental and emotional health when pharmaceutical help together with appropriate therapeutic emotional support can improve the quality of your life and help to restore pleasure in life. See it as gaining, and not failing😍
Good luck and take care🤞
