WET AMD on a third world country
Hello, I'm from Philippines. I'm just 23 and I'm sure that I have a wet macular degeneration. On my left eye. It's totally dark or wavey on the central line. It's like there's a fluid on my eye when I look around. My right eye is starting to have the same symptoms. I've been suffering this for almost

Covid-19 and high blood pressure medication
I have just been speaking with my GP about the link between ACE inhibitors and ARB drugs prescribed for hypertension (and other conditions) and the incidence of severe Covid-19 infection (several million of us are on these meds). He said there was no proven link and these stories were just dreamed up

Cataracts and beta blockers
A few days ago someone asked about beta blockers making cataracts worse and I said I would ask today when I saw a consultant regarding cataract surgery. He said that beta blockers do not cause or worsen cataracts but they can dry the eyes - something I didn’t know. Rosemaryb1349

No current monitoring
I have advanced alcoholic liver disease but appear to be starting to compensate. Ascites under control etc. I am supposed to have monthly bloods done, a review appointment at the hospital with the consultant and a three monthly GP review. I know I am not well but actually I feel fine (well comparatively

Please help me understand these results
Hello, everyone. I am confused. The results of my last test and current cholesterol test results show my LDL HDL ratio is 3.3. But looks like everything is out of whack.. If I understand correctly. You are supposed to take the total cholesterol number and divide it by Your HDL Result and that is actually

Coronavirus infection and medication for cardiovascular disease
Given the recent publication in the Lancet medical journal which questions whether the severity of COVID-19 is greater in patients taking ACE inhibitors, please as a matter of urgency could the BHF obtain empirical data from China or Italy to determine whether this is the case. Ace inhibitors and coronovirus
I am currently taking 2.5mg Ramipril as part of treatment for AF. Todays Times points to a Lancet article suggesting a link between ace inhibitors and coronovirus infection. I feel a bit anxious an wonder if I should come off them? https://www.thelancet.com/pdfs/journals/lanres/PIIS2213-2600(20)30116

Cataract surgery & MS impact on vision
It's been magical: I just had cataract surgery on my right eye on Monday. And since then I no longer need glasses - short & long distance. Whoohoo The right eye happens to be the one that triggered the MS diagnosis (double vision) and whose nerve is most impacted by MS. I also thought the floaters in

Pain and stiffness
Hi It’s been a long time since I have been on here. I am hypothyroid and Over the last year my levels have been all over the place, needing less thyroxine in the warmer months (75mg) as I was symptomatic of being a bit hyper, and more in the winter (100mg) when my levels dropped off and went the opposite

I went into AFib a year ago during cataract surgery. In fact as soon as the drops were put in. I've never had a history of high blood pressure etc. I ended up in the hospital for three days. I was released with ectopics and put on Xarelto, metoprolol, and another heart med. They tried cardioversion but

epiretinal membrane and cataract surgery
Thanks everyone who has responded to my previous post. I should have explained what an epiretinal membrane is. It’s a thin sheet of fibrous tissue called a membrane that develops on the surface of the macular at the back of the eye, and distorts the vision. Eventually it can prevent all focussed vision

Anyone react to conscious sedation after cataract surgery?
Today I had my first cataract removed. As I was returning home I experienced a strong headache, aches in my neck and left shoulder and then nausea. I’ve never had this reaction before PMR. Anyone have this experience? Thanks

Hello All, My FBS has increased quite a bit for the last 10 days. It use be in the range of 90s (mg/dL). It suddenly increased to 120 mg/dL one day early last week. Ever since for the last 10 days or so, it is staying 100+(mg/dL). I have not made any major changes in my diet or physical activities. Yesterday

Corona virus & fatty liver?
Please can someone help me by answering this. If I have non alcohol related fatty liver, does that mean I have liver disease and am at higher risk of getting the corona virus? Thank you.
