I have advanced alcoholic liver disease but appear to be starting to compensate. Ascites under control etc. I am supposed to have monthly bloods done, a review appointment at the hospital with the consultant and a three monthly GP review. I know I am not well but actually I feel fine (well comparatively fine as I was very ill last year)
I have not booked ANY of these follow-ups this month. I am not being blase but I just think I was a priority patient but no longer am and that short term, other people need the doctor's and nurse's time, there are more urgent tests to be done than mine and isolating makes more sense. Probably couldn't get any of those appointments anyway but I haven't tried.
I am taking lowish dose Spiro for ascites, beta blockers for varices and various prescription supplements.
Am I being unwise?
How are other people handling their monitoring appointments?
Thanks for your thoughts
Wendy

I'd at least ring the places & see what advice you are given. The blood test might be able to be done at home. People like you still matter.
I recently rang a urologist that I'd seen twice before about a prostate problem & I was advised that I could come in for a non face to face consultation. In the end I decided that my problem wasn't urgent & could wait.
Like you I have underlying health issues & I'm in an age group at higher risk from the virus but I saw my GP recently. I also saw an eye specialist & an optometrist. All places I've been to are taking precautions & people are practicing social distancing reducing the risks.
Good morning
