Apixaban
Hi, has anyone had spinal anaesthesia for surgery whilst taking Apixaban. I know I will have to stop taking it 48 hours prior to surgery. I thought I had seen somewhere that’s it’s not safe and I want to have my facts right before seeing anesthetist on Thursday.

Inconsistent swelling
Hi everyone! This is my first time posting here. Please be easy on me! Anyway, I am a 40 year old girl with stage 4 cirrhosis. I really don't know how to wrap my head around it. I find myself feeling completely not believed or something? Did anyone else experience this? But, physically the most

cataract surgery & epiretinal membrane
I have to decide whether to have cataract surgery which might cause complications for the epiretinal membrane on the macular in both my eyes. I am keen to hear any other experience of this - (1) what factors to think about in deciding and (2) what the effect of surgery has had on the epiretinal membrane

Injections for life? Will health insurance or NHS pay?
I am "only" 53 and have needed to have 2 Eylea injections in my left eye to resolve a slight bleed. So far, so good, but I am wondering if I will need regular injections for the rest of my life? Has anyone else found that a few injections can stop the macular degeneration in its tracks? Also, will my

Cataracts and hypothyroidism
I did my 6 month check up with Rheumy for psoriatic arthritis and as always she puts the flashlight in my eyes and this time she did it and sat back looked through my health record and started asking me the following questions. 1. Do you have trouble driving at night (Yes) 2. Do bright lights bother

Fatty liver reversal.
Happy Saturday everyone ! Can I just ask if any of you were successful in reversing alcoholic fatty liver disease ? I’ve been on a really good path for nearly 6 months (barr the odd glass) and hoping for good results in April 🤞September scan showed moderate fatty liver, no scarring or inflammation and

having one’s replies switched off
I was unaware I’d committed a contravention(!) and extremely relieved the only punishment was to have my replies switched off! If we’re splitting hairs about what constitutes natural, the only additives in the products prescribed to me by Dr Peatfield are: Each capsule contains: Bovine Thyroid Gland

Is PMR possible with low markers?
Today I got a call from the rhuematologist's office telling me that my bloodwork came back and inflammatory markers are down to normal....NOW~~~~ I will learn exactly, I hope, what that means. Definitely feel better and do believe the vision I have in my right eye is a bit sharper. Here comes the but

Protocols for initial fatty liver finding
As my husband was just diagnosed with cirrhosis he’s wondering if his GP should have counselled him on alcohol use when she noticed a fatty liver a year ago after bloodwork. I recently accessed an ultrasound he had three years ago after a fall and the fatty liver was noted on the report, yet he was never

Oil of oregano
Do you know if it’s okay to take oil of oregano with prednisone? Years before having PMR I used it to get over the flu. My cough was gone in two days. I have a huge cough now and on antibiotics for it. Any opinions welcomed. I have to be better for my cataract surgery this Thursday. Thanks

Cataract surgery and anticoagulants
I have been given a date for cataract surgery- quite lucky I think to get this date before actually progressing to the white stick stage of cataract development. The hospital say I don’t need to stop the anticoagulants (Endoxaban in my case) before the op. They only seemed concerned if I was on Warfarin

Cataract Operation. A success so far
Five years with GCA and all the usual side effects of pred. One eye diagnosed in need of a cataract operation. That filled me with all sorts of fear and panic for months, even though I was assured that it was painless. Came the day last Friday at Whipps Cross Hospital in East London. It could not have

Bad emotional day.
Yesterday was the worst day of the past five months of my PMR journey. I forgot my morning medicine when I left for work. My brain was not up to making any decisions. I cried off and on till 3. I saw my eye surgeon who then found my pressures had dropped enough so that I can have cataract surgery next

They will rebuild me !
Some of you may know, after a bad fall last year that resulted in my badly smashing both wrists, I’ve needed to have surgery to rebuild them. I had the surgery done in my left wrist in September and then straight into gallbladder removal at the beginning of December. I now have my date for my ankle replacement

Difference after injection between Lucentis & Eyelea
After having Lucentis injections monthly for most of the last 2 to 3 years it was felt that a switch to Eyelea might help. Had the second set of injections a couple of days ago and I feel that my eyesight is slightly worse after the injections which is not something I felt with the Lucentis injections
