Had a Dexa scan to get a baseline for bone health and discovered already had osteoporosis. I have sjogrens with inflammatory arthritis. GP wanted to start treatment, but rheumatologist said I will be fine as I am on Calciferol 50,000 alternate weeks--which one do I listen to ?

AdCal
Hello everyone!! Just a quick question................ Have I read somewhere that it is best to take AdCal separately from Prednisolone - I.e. take after lunch and dinner? I have read so much to try and optimise my health, I can't remember all I have read!! Thank you

My Rheumy says the aim from 10mg downwards is a very slow reduction of no more than 1mg every two months, symptoms permitting; she has prescribed me
ADCAL
D3
; and she has said we will decide on Alendronic Acid once she has the results of my DEXA scan. Wonderful! All was going well.

New - help with bloods and advice please
My husband has recently had his blood results back and I'm looking for some advice regarding his GPs suggested treatment regime. He has a lot of symptoms which I believe relate to B12, but as he also has a brain tumour there may be some overlap. He is having very severe pain in his toes which he takes

Update - different results via Private and NHS
Added this update to my original post then realised I'd be better off starting a new post....... Well following the great advice people on here gave me, I went back to my GP and asked to be retested. I got the earliest appointment and fasted and the results were almost identical to the original ones

GP scared me. Help understand results please.
Hi all, Following a total thyroidectomy 5 months ago, I'm still struggling to reach the right dosage of medication and optimum health. Maybe I'm being too optimistic about optimum health without a thyroid. Since my surgery, I was prescribed 125mcg Levothyroxine which I took until about 6 weeks ago.

Spacing the medication!!!
I've been reading about not taking Vit D3 and Calcium at the same time as pred, taking it with something fatty..breaking the Adcal tablets in half!! Someone said we needed a spreadsheet for all this medication and I'm thinking that's a good idea!! I'm currently splitting my pred which makes it more complicated

Vitamin B12 and vitamin D3
Alarming: yesterday I was listening to a radio interview (this is in Canada on CBC radio). Apparently 40% of the population is low B12. And yet, just like NHS over by all of you, doctors here are being discouraged from even testing for B12 because each test costs $40 and it's too expensive. At the

Best Time to take Vitamin D3?
Hi, I am currently on a maintenance dose of 10,000 D3 a week, taking one 10,000 pill on Mondays. I've read that it doesn't matter if I take it in the morning with breakfast, which is around an hour after taking my thyroid medication. I've also read that it should be taken 4 hours apart from the thyroid

A cure for backache??
Hi, I was 68 and very active, water skiing, tennis and keeping fit on a rowing machine then I thought I'd cracked a rib skiing which took months to heal then went skiing and the same thing happened again. I had an MRI which showed four collapsed vertebrae so a follow up bone density scan gave a value

Prednisone? and teeth
For those of you with incipient tooth problems, perhaps caused by "bone thinning" - please make sure you are getting enough Vitamin D3 and, above all, Vitamin K2. I cut back my D severely for some time, because I'd had a high reading and, because I thought maybe I was taking too much K2 (apparently

Vitamin D3 and K2
Having been diagnosed last year with Vit D deficiency I have been taking 3000 iu of Vitamin D3 with 100 mcg of vitamin K2 this winter and my recent blood test was 121 nmol/L. Can I now lower my vitamin D3 dosage to 1000 iu and cease the vit K2 as I should get some vitamin D from the sunshine till September
