Salt-losing nephropathy in hypothyroidism
Just how many hypo- issues did this patient have? The paper does support the idea that sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphate and chloride can all be affected by hypothyroidism. Also wonder, as kidneys perform at least some conversion of T4 to T3, do kidney issues contribute to overall inadequate

Nearly died after ablation - Anyone had same problem?
Hello, I had my ablation 1 week ago - at Barts under a trial; long day with 1 hour MRI followed by 6.30hr under full anasthetic. The next day was discharged at about 11am and came back home where I had a sandwich and went to bed to watch catch up TV. 5 hours later I started having great difficulties

My BG Test after 3 months
Today I went for my regular sugar checkup. I was very much surprised as everything was under control. As I was not hoping the results to be that much good. HBA1C is 5.6(last time it was 6.1). Creatinine is normal and Urine test is also normal. I was so happy that I had a cup of

A Diet to Suit Multiple Conditions
My wife was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy several years ago; since then she has been diagnosed with COPD, kidney failure and recently Diabetes (2). Like medication, various diets conflict with each other. In addition, exercise is out of the question because of the COPD (she cannot walk across the room

Hate Syn Thyroid tablets.
Need help allergic to Levothyroxin. Why are we the poor relations of the Medical world. One tablet fits all. Equals 25% of us suffering every side effect even Heart failure. It's sickening that no one help us.

Persistent Atril Fibrillation. Left Ventricular Impairment with Decompensated Heart Failure. Hypertension
I am a 74 yr old female with above problems. I am taking Warfarin, Bisoprolol, Digoxin, Candesartan, Atorvastatin & Furosemide. My first cardioversion lasted for 20 months but my second only a few hours. I had to wait so long for an outpatient follow up appointment I paid for a private consultation with

Having to rethink my eating plan again
When I went into hospital last year I turned up there with multiple organ failure. A year on I have chronic heart failure and dodgy kidneys. I am guessing the high protein diet I was on for weight loss in early 2016 didn't exactly help. So I am now starting out on cutting out the high quality proteins

Bisoprolol versus pacemaker
7 years ago I was diagnosed with a fib which apparently led to heart failure. Whilst in hospital I was also found to have tachy/Brady syndrome so had a pacemaker fitted. When released from hospital I felt a lot better but was slightly breathless when walking distances or upstairs. Over the years this

Water retention and Bisoprolol
My mother is 86 and as well as suffering from AF she has been diagnosed with Heart Failure (I know this is a loose term that fits many heart issues). She has suffered from water retention in the past but 3 months ago her Bisoprolol daily dose was increased from 2.5mg to 5mg a day. She has now been admitted

Clinical trials: post transpant management of anti-rejection medications
I have been invited to take part in a clinical trial to reduce (completely?) anti-rejection meds. I am currently on .5 mg Prograf x 2 and 500mg MMF x 1 which I realise is quite low. Is there anyone out there who has dropped these entirely? If so, could you share experiences, either here or via message

Reasons for having Reverse T3 test please.
Have recently come across reverse T3 on here and wondered in what circumstances you would have this test done. Can it tell if you are not converting T4 to T3?

GRF Level
I was on the Davita.com site and punched in my creatinine level of 1.0 and it gave me a GFR of 66, but yet by blood work shows 59. How can it be that different, does anyone know? Thanks
