My partner was diagnosed with kidney failure in June. He began hemodialysis right away and continues to do it three times per week. In October, he had the abdominal catheter added for home peritoneal dialysis and is currently being trained on how to do it. He will likely begin treatment at home next

Hi everyone! I'm in the early stages of ckd and right now I'm really trying to wrap my head around what I should be eating to be as nice to my kidneys as possible. For the last year or so I've been under the impression that the most important thing is to stay low in protein and to keep full eat more

PD Catheter
Hi, EGFR now dropped to 11, and PD catheter being fitted next week, followed by a Fistula soon after. Any advice on coping with Peritoneal Dialysis would be appreciated. Interested in whether I may feel 'healthier', or whether there is no real change.

Hi everyone. My dad has had permanent AF for about 12 years. He had the AV node ablated in January 2018. He has severe heart failure and his

Success with T3 Only for Rt3?
Hey guys, I got another round of doctor visits lined up this week. I’ve been dealing with Euthyroid Sick Syndrome most likely since my last testosterone cycle at the end of 2015, though just found out about it several months ago. I wanted to know if anybody has had any success with non thyroidal illness

Disclosing CKD
Hi everyone, I need some advice. I don’t know if I should disclose my medical condition to my employer. I was recently diagnosed with with CKD. I found out in June I had CKD. I only confided in one colleague. After my biopsy I found out I have Stage IV CKD, just last week. It is caused by IGA Nephropathy

4 months post RF ablation
Approximately a year ago I was diagnosed with heart failure. I spent the following four months or so following the NHS processes in an attempt to identify the cause and appropriate treatment. I was told that I had Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction but an angiogram and MRI didn’t identify a cause.

Kidney Doctor
Can't seem to get an appointment any time soon and I'm worried. What is the kidney doctor "really" going to do? My GP is testing my blood weekly (which I think I might switch to monthly) Had an ultrasound...normal. My BP and sugar is good. Eating much better, exercising. I feel pretty good....a little

NT Pro BNP increase in atrial flutter/fibrillation
Hi Last week when I was at emergency for tachycardia and atrial flutter, they did a Brain NT Pro BNP test. My value was 540. I didn’t even know about this test after I was discharged. No one discussed about it I checked online and it said it measures heart failure which made me worry very much Yesterday

Peritoneal Dialysis
My husband and I are training to do PD. He had the permanent catheter implanted and it is working fine. Someone recommended that he should get a fistula in his arm as a backup. Is that usually done?

Post-ablation progress
The purpose of my ablation in July was to reduce my high ectopic burden, the theory being that the arrhythmia was the cause of my heart failure. Analysis of a recent 7-day holter recording shows that my ectopic rate is now down at 1.7%, so I saw my cardiologist yesterday for an echocardiogram. He gave

Alternative Therapy to Preserve Renal Transplants
I had a live-donor renal transplant 13 years ago, but I'm well aware that such transplants usually only last 15 years so I am looking for ways to preserve its function. I now take Renadyl, which contains microflora which have been shown in several scientific studies to reduce levels of uremic toxins
