My son’s PSA rose a bit today.
His Mayo doctor told him to continue to test every three months, stay on current meds Lupron,
Abiraterone
/prednisone for another year and two months then stop meds and wait and see with lifetime testing. He had an RP last October 24 2022 for what we thought was contained prostate cancer .

Brother's numbers since ADT plus Orchiectomey since diagnosed in February
He had one ADT injection right away and opted for an Orchiectomey in May along with
Abiraterone
. He just had his first Chemo treatment (Docetaxel) on October 1st and the numbers I have posted were before first Chemo. He will be going for Chemo for six treatments.

Xtandi gap
Abiraterone
on the other hand is $250/month so I'm planning to suggest to my MO that I switch to that drug for two months to get me into 2024 and then back to Xtandi come January. Not sure how receptive he'll be to that strategy.

Fosfestrol (Honvan)
however, "patients who ... received prior
abiraterone
acetate therapy had worse survival outcomes." A significant attraction of oral Honvan is that it is cheap. It would be interesting to see how BAT + Honvan might improve survival in metastatic CRPC.

de novo metastatic prostate cancer
I’ve been on degarelix/Firmagon and
Abiraterone
for the past 3.5 months and it seems to be working well - just had my 3 month scans. And the terrible fatigue is under control. Anyone else on these two drugs? What’s your long term experience been? thanks Robert

Options when Docetaxel stops working
He went on Lupron and
Abiraterone
which took his PSA to .03 and kept it low until Oct 2022. It went to 8.9 and his doctor put him on Docetaxel chemo. His PSA has continued to rise and his oncologist has kept him on this chemo. His PSA is now 48.

Androstenedione & Frailty
As such, production is inhibited by
Abiraterone
(which targets the enzyme that acts on progesterone and pregnenolone.) Adrenal andro production is controlled by ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone). Gonadal andro production is inhibited by ADT.
