Vacation
Is this from Lupron &
Abiraterone
, or just one of them? He's been <0.04 for over a year and ultra sensitive shows <0.02. He's very hesitant to stop something that's working. A vacation would be nice, but I'm with him. We are going to make a list of questions.

Zytiga/Abiraterone, 3 months in, no change in PSA, T is< 12, normal response??
Hello fellow warriors! My husband has been in Zytiga for 3 months now, was hoping PSA would drop, still at .4 Should we expect this or wait to see March’s number., .4 is his highest he’s ever had We are seeing a top rated RO here in AZ to get 2nd opinion on PSMA scan and he is CRPC. Thanks in advance

I think this question was asked an answered 4 years ago, but perhaps an update? Should I stop taking Abiraterone for no particular reason?
During my last MO visit, it was suggested that I could stop taking
Abiraterone
(now at 6 months) if the side effects were really bad.

One year after Stage IV, so far, so good
They recommended that I have the triple treatment of chemo, Lupron, and
abiraterone
+ prednisone. Chemo was not a fun experience, but like a lot of you here, I got through it. taking Lupron and
Abiraterone
+ prednisone was ok but I can live with the SEs.

When ADT fails, we continue it anyway... why not Zytiga?
Why wouldn't the same be true of
abiraterone
? Once abi "fails" in keeping PSA low and in preventing progression, does it not still "succeed" in its function, and still inhibit CYP17A1 and decrease the production of testosterone?

when do you take a break
Just wondering i do 5 mg of prednisone 1000 mg of
abiraterone
and Lupron every 3months plus bone so I've been on this now 10 months PSA is less than 0.001, so at what point do you take a break looking into the future how do you know when to take that break and what if the cancer comes back do you start

Dealing with prostate cancer.
I’m 77 years old…diagnosed in 2012…had prostatectomy and then lupron,
abiraterone
, docetaxel, cabazitaxel, etc etc. I have bone Mets…stable right now….PSA 12.5. Being told that I will probably start Pluvicto in a month or so.

Side Effects of Lupron plus Abiraterone
I'm on Lupron and
Abiraterone
plus prednisone. Aside from the 'normal' side effects of low/no libido, reduced testicle size, etc., I am losing much of my body hair. I'm referring to arm, leg, chest and armpits. Hair elsewhere is hanging in there, including beard. Anyone else seeing this?

Update on restaging cancer
She also rec'd
Abiraterone
/Prednisone but due to several cardiac issues my husband doesn't want that since he feels any SEs would land him in the hospital. She also said that if the Xtandi fails she might rec'd Casodex. The name was familiar but I didn't connect to bicalutamide until we got home.

Screening
Then recurrence in April 2022 with a PSA that went from .1 to .4 in 9 weeks and then Lupron w/ ebrt and
abiraterone
. One hell of a learning curve for someone who had never been in the hospital or on any meds for 53 years nor had family history or any other comorbidities.

Why we add an AART drug to ADT?
So in answer to your original question: if you are going to be on continuous ADT, then it appears to be of benefit to be also on an AART drug, or
abiraterone
. I will also post this summary for my friends on FPC. Paul/MB

18 Month Update
After 18 months of ADT plus
Abiraterone
and HDR Brachytherapy and EBRT my WBC is within normal limits for the first time since HDR Brachytherapy. My PSA started at 10.28 and decreased 95% the first month of ADT and slowly after that with the last 6 months ranging 0.06 to 0.08.

Two years and counting
Dr Sartor said his recent experience using the Eligard,
Abiraterone
+ Prednisone combo, was not as hard on bones as past treatments. He did recommend that I get a DEXA scan and take Oscal 500+D 2 times a day. As far as I know the Oscal company is out of business. I found a substitute.
