Abiraterone, standard or low dose.
I was wondering if many of the members take low dose
abiraterone
(250 mg and 300 calorie breakfast) and how many take the standard dose. And whether it was a patient doctor decision based on cost, toxicity, or some other reason.

Getting Ready to Start Abiraterone
I am getting ready to start
abiraterone
(1000) mg with 5 mg prednisone once daily. I have been thoroughly instructed on taking the
abiraterone
with no food two hours before and one hour after as well as taking prednisone with food but was wondering when you guys take yours.

I wonder if anyone knows why or has experienced a rise on PSA level (from 70 to 274), 6 months after radiation therapy (VMAT x 26 sessions)?
Instead, take
Abiraterone
Acetate with Prednisone.

Enzalutamide any advice/tips for dealing with side effects
Had 6 cycles of Chemo and then
Abiraterone
for 18+ months (PSA dropped to 0.2 then more recently rose to 58 in June '23 ).
Abiraterone
eventually stopped working and I was able to join Radium 223 trial.

A quick introduction
I was immediately given Lupron and
Abiraterone
/prednasone. This was replaced by Nubeqa after only a month. In early June I began what was to be six rounds of docetaxal. Apparently I responded well to the treatment as my MO put my chemotherapy on “pause” after four rounds.

low dose abiraterone and possible pain
Does anybody here find low dose protocol of
abiraterone
effective? Also, how do you treat bone pain? Or how do you determine if pain is coming from the bone or some other factors like chronic pelvic-prostate syndrome?

Hospitalizations Among Veterans Treated for Metastatic Prostate Cancer With Abiraterone or Enzalutamide
This study compares hospitalizations among patients treated initially with
abiraterone
versus enzalutamide. Total rate of hospitalization increased 22% for
abiraterone
compared to a 3% increase for enzalutamide in the 12 months after ARPI initiation (P < .0001).

Abiraterone Zytiga Major Price Jump! $$$$
just went to renew my monthly prescription of Abby Rader Rowan, and was told it had jumped from 160 per month to $1600 per month. Went to good RX and all the prices have quintupled or sextupled. Anyone have a clue why? Anyone know a better source for those of us on Medicare and supplemental health?

Radiation Question
PSA test sent me into this journey about 8 mos ago, Gleason 6-7-8s, good PSMA PET/CT did not show uptake outside of the prostate, 6 mos now on
Abiraterone
and Zytiga brought PSA to .31, now suggesting radiation, went to see RO and they want to start right away, 8 weeks x-ray type to include abdomen in

Switching from Abi to Enza?
However,
Abiraterone
has resulted in some side effects, the major one being increase in blood sugar levels. My father has become pre-diabetic now and the doctor has advised to switch to Enzalutamide as it has fewer side effects.

Is there seasonality to testosterone levels?
My ADT treatments (Lupron/
Abiraterone
/Prednisone) ended on May 02 2023 at which point both my PSA and Testosterone were flat lined. Here are the results of the four times I have been tested since the end of the ADT.

Failing ADT
Following a PSMA scan, my MO saw only my largest tumor growing and suggested we radiate it and continue with Lupron and
Abiraterone
. That seems to have worked for a short as my PSA became immeasurable once again.

Making a Case for Intermittent ADT in Metastatic Hormone Sensitive Prostate Cancer

Abiraterone and food
My husband has been on
Abiraterone
for 2 months, during which time his PSA has doubled. I’ve recently read posts about the advantages of taking
Abiraterone
with food instead of taking it an hour before eating as recommended.

Need inputs on Abi side-effects for bed-ridden patient
Last month, oncologist had said that he will start
Abiraterone
in case the trend is increasing and also that he needs to see the patient once. Does
Abiraterone
have any significant side-effects? My dad has been completely bed-ridden for over 2 years now.

Food supplements I hope will help
Treated with IMRT radiation + Eligard +
Abiraterone
. PSA undetectable. Stopped
Abiraterone
due liver that hates it (liver is ok). Will try Nubeqa, and may switch to Orgovyx after Eligard runs out in December.
