low dose abiraterone and possible pain

Hello everyone, i am new here for my dad and found this community very helpful. Does anybody here find low dose protocol of abiraterone effective?

Also, how do you treat bone pain? Or how do you determine if pain is coming from the bone or some other factors like chronic pelvic-prostate syndrome?

Some guys find that temporarily lowering the dose and then slowly raising it allows the liver to accommodate to the higher dose.

I’m on Alendronic acid tablets 70gm 1 weekly and Eva cal D3 calcium tablets one day to help bone strength !

That’s a good question about how to determine if pain is coming from the bones or other cause.

My husband has “innumerable bone lesions” per his oncologist. Almost all his pain is felt in front across his abdomen and caused by a compression fracture of his vertebrae, I guess this is referred pain? He takes morphine for the pain but will be transitioning to methadone

Hope your dad finds relief

Thanks for replying from my question. Does the pain consistently felt or there are times it feels ok with doing physical actions.

He says the pain is almost always there but the morphine makes it bearable and he can tell when it’s time for another dose because the pain worsens.

I just finished 27 days on low dose abiraterone. My MO had no problem with the low dose but went over what I could have for breakfast. I think he was comfortable with going low dose when the wife and I told him I have the same breakfast everyday. PSA Sept. 5 was 19.48 and 4.79 today. Alkaline phosphatase 141 Sept. 5 and 114 today. All other numbers were good but WDC was elevated slightly which he said was from Prednisone. I eat a bowl of whole grain cereal. It can not be Granola type, no nuts or seeds. A bananna and a cup of coffee with non dairy creamer. I eat my cereal dry, the way I like it. 300 calories and no more than 7% fat. I think what doctors are concerned about is not the effectiveness of low dose but the possible overdose. A breakfast as I described increases the effectiveness 4.4 fold. A high fat meal can increase to 10 fold or more. I take my prednisone at the same time I take my abiraterone. Hope this helps. Also, I pray alot. I am pain free but I take 2800 mg of curcumin and Celebrex for 3 herniated discs, two compression fractures and lots of arthritis. Did I mention I pray alot? God Bless.

I would suggest you Google curcumin and celebrex for prostate cancer. But I suggest you get all supplements approved by MO before taking.
